8.5 / 10.0 - Rocket League
Mar 2, 2016

Rocket League lives up to the hype surrounding it. For Xbox One players who have been envious of PS4 and PC players, your moment is here. Everything works even when it shouldn't, and the game provides hours of entertainment. Solo it is fun, with friends it is a blast. This is not a title to miss.

This won't create any new fans of the series or bring anything extremely different to the foray, but it's still a solid first start to a 3 part miniseries. I do hope the other two episode play out just a little longer than the 90 minutes this lasted, but otherwise, I'm definitely down for the next episodes.

The core campaign and multiplayer segments are all here, and if players don’t own an Xbox One it’s definitely worth checking out, especially if having never played a Gears of War game. This is the start of it all, and better than it originally released in most aspects.

Hitman GO is a unique spin to a franchise and feels like the perfect combination of puzzle and strategy game, especially in quick bursts. I can only handle so much in one sitting, but every time I do play, I find myself sucked in just a little bit more.

The Flame in the Flood was a fantastic experience for me.

[I]f you're not a master at these games, they can very well take you some time to complete. Mega Man has never been known as a walk in the park when it came to difficulty and this port tries its best to stay true to the original feel. Fans new and old should most certainly check out this collection. I highly recommend it.

9 / 10.0 - Far Cry Primal
Feb 23, 2016

From missions involving finding totems, to investigating why a river is causing sickness, investigating dark caverns, or climbing a great cliff for rare feathers, there is plenty of variation between all the killings. If the idea and theme don't resonate with players and pull them in, I'd probably rate this game a point or two lower then my personal score as I feel it's rather crucial to get the most enjoyment out of this title. That said, I absolutely loved my time with Primal though and to see a game set in this time period, with no guns, and with high production values just seems completely experimental and bold. I can't help but commend Ubisoft in attempting this.

With a cheap price tag and bland visuals, this is an easy title to ignore. However, for anyone who enjoys character actions games with deep, engaging combat, I cannot recommend it enough. I found myself tearing through repetitive wave after wave because of how much fun the combat is. What it lacks in presentation, it more than makes up for with game play.

5.5 / 10.0 - Street Fighter V
Feb 19, 2016

In its current state, I cannot recommend you spend $60 on this title. It is honestly not finished by any means. I understand that Capcom has promised many things to come in free updates, but if that is the case, maybe they should have waited until March to release the full game. The online is far too spotty, and the single player content is a joke currently. Don't get me wrong, the game play itself is fantastic.

Level 22: Gary's Misadventure is a pleasant and refreshing stealth focused game. Not once did it take itself too seriously, or try too hard. Its light-hearted approach to the genre felt like light relief when compared to games like Volume or Metal Gear Solid. Go Gary, go!

The Garden Warfare franchise started off as a pleasant surprise, and the sequel improved upon almost every issue I had with the first game. It is a surprisingly competent shooter that breaks the mold, both stylistically and thematically from other titles in the genre. The added single player components and all around improvements make this a worthy sequel that no one should miss.

7.5 / 10.0 - Factotum 90
Feb 18, 2016

All in all, Factotum 90 is not a bad puzzle game. I had a decent little time with it and at the cost of six bucks, I'd say puzzle fans should give it a shot. It's not going to blow anyone's socks off, but the game has a lot of heart. It's a nice little weekend game to play through at least once.

6 / 10.0 - Unravel
Feb 17, 2016

Unravel is disappointing on several levels, simply because it rarely steps outside the box mechanically to deliver a fun or interesting experience. The narrative is what drives the game, and even some of that feels obtuse at times. I wanted to love Yarny and his adventures, but the game wrapped around it is simply mediocre in design to the point that as brief as the journey was, I simply wasn't having fun pushing through it, which is sad because Yarny appears to have more heart than most bigger-budget games.

For the 15th anniversary and the first Digimon game to be released in the west in over seven years, the fans deserved better than the localization effort put forth here. Still, despite these issues, the core gameplay remains strong and stands as a fun game to play- just not to read.

8 / 10.0 - Layers of Fear

Sometimes a game comes along that sees a team of people coming together to create something unique and scary all the same. That's Layers of Fear in a nutshell and it scared the living hell out of me.

8.5 / 10.0 - Project X Zone 2
Feb 12, 2016

Project X Zone 2 is a deeper, more satisfying experience as it is greatly improved from the original in every single way. It's a shrine to a great cast of characters we've grown fond of over the years, carefully crafted by people who love these characters just as much as we do.

Dying Light The Following is a decent length expansion that will last players around ten hours and adds a nice little chunk to the core gameplay that can extend the overall package of Dying Light, even with newer features in the be the zombie mode also.

Arslan is a warrior's game and its roots are obvious. The fact that it is extremely story driven though, really gives me a sense to keep moving forward and I constantly found myself playing "just one more battle". It's not changing up the formula that much and that's fine in my opinion, but the story hook was there.

9 / 10.0 - XCOM 2
Feb 10, 2016

XCOM 2 does everything Enemy Unknown did and improved on it with more variations as well as some very interesting game mechanics. Anyone who enjoyed the first game has no reason not to pick this one up. It has a few performance issues here and here, but it is still a challenging yet rewarding game that made me have every emotion from joyous to devastated. One of the early game of the year contenders for me, and a fine game any strategy fan should own.
