The big question for Final Fantasy VII Remake for many is going to be: was it worth the wait? For me, the answer is yes. I teared up at several points, I enjoyed the combat for the most part and the experience of being able to explore Midgar with these fantastic characters in such a visually updated fashion was an absolutely amazing experience.

A fine-tuned beat-em-up just like they used to make em’ that’s been brought to the modern era thanks to the inclusion of new features that make the franchise more accessible than ever before.

‘Family Secrets’ slips off the lid on the Ronan home and its secrets, but it certainly hasn’t spilled all of them just yet. As a middle chapter, everything is set in place for where the final chapter is headed.

Such a beautiful game just to spend time with, especially with the superb original score by Austin Wintory.

Hazelight has delivered another memorable co-op adventure, this time one that is brimming with chaotic Pixar energy and a real inventive flair for game ideas.

Playing MTG in the palm of your hand, flicking between cards with your fingers, that's the best way to play the digital version of this card game.

People Can Fly aren’t re-inventing the wheel here, and it may be rough around the edges, but this is some of the most thrilling third-person combat I've played in years.

As far as surprises in 2021 go, Scarlet Nexus jumping into my list of favourite things I've played this year is certainly up there as unexpected.

Between the Iki Island DLC, vast improvements to the game from the way it looks, sounds and plays and the ironing out of minor issues the original release had, Ghost of Tsushima: Directors Cut is the best way to experience the journey of Jin Sakai.

8 / 10.0 - Road 96
Sep 7, 2021

Road 96 is a game about rebellion, the road and most of all, people; even if the politics feel too childish to be helpful at times, it’s a conversation starter and a well-meaning one.

8 / 10.0 - TOEM

I happily cuddled myself up for an afternoon to playthrough TOEM, and it cuddled me back. I’d suggest the same plans to anyone wanting a lo-fi and relaxing photography adventure that’ll make you feel good.

I'm content to keep TRIOS installed on my Switch and keep it as a mindfulness app of sorts. It's more suited on the handheld than PC, but if you're more interested in the maths side than the relaxing side, maybe you're happy to sit on your computer and solve puzzles into the night.

For what's here, they are fantastic games that look and play even better than before; it's just a pity there isn't something more here to make the package feel like more than a timed release for the upcoming movie.

Shatter Remastered Deluxe is an excellent brick-breaking game. Considering its over ten years old, it is a testament to how good the core gameplay is that a simple visual and audio makeover could make it feel fresh again. If you're a fan of the genre, it's a must-play, especially if you never got a chance to experience it on PS3.

8 / 10 - High Hell
Oct 23, 2017

High Hell can be either a fun shooter for an hour or two, in the style they used to be made, or it can be something you replay over and over as you master each level to meticulous detail to place on the leaderboards for bragging rights. How you choose to play is up to you.

Fractured Mask was a great episode with plenty of character moments I loved. But my favourite thing about the episode was ending it, realising there are two episodes left and I really can't see the direction the story is heading -- which is exciting.
