Imagine if you can enjoy both the rhythm and metrovania style games in one? They made it possible with Songbird Symphony. The game features characters with luscious graphics and beautiful storytelling to back it up. Although there are action packed sequences, the visuals aren't as violent as it seems, which makes it the perfect game for gamers of all ages.

The previous rendition of RE was a spicy mix of horror reboot. This time, they’ve watered down the spice a tiny bit and engineered some ‘action’ into the mix. The end result was that those who weren’t courageous enough to face the horror genre, was now able to experience the latest iteration of Resident Evil and get a taste of what it has to offer. The puzzle and exploration is much more rewarding and less of a headache this time around. With plenty of bonus contents to dig up including the past history of ‘The Baker Incident Report’, If you’re a fan of Resident Evil, you won’t be disappointed.

If you lived in the era of the 80’s and 90’s arcade games by Capcom, this is a must have collection. While its lack of online co-op is questionable, the offline experience allows its individual games’ maximum player capacity. This means you can invite your friends over for some old school retro gaming action. Some of the new features include player eccentric settings and modern user interface for a more flexible gameplay experience. All of the games are gems of the past including Progear, a port into the modern consoles since 20 years from its original release.

The game allows the player to come up with creative alchemy combinations and explore the possibilities into new discoveries and problem solving. The immense amount of possible results may be the downside element of the game. The auto-save feature is a bit unreliable in critical situations. The UI isn’t quite user friendly due to the complex mechanism of the alchemy. If you’re going to try and complete every alchemy combination, bosses and sub-quests, it will roughly take around 7 hours to complete the game.

7 / 10.0 - FORECLOSED
Sep 1, 2021

Foreclosed is set in a cyberpunk-like dystopian future. The idea of a graphic novel style gameplay is pretty unique but the in-game mechanics that don’t really resolve the expectations was a bit of a let down.

8 / 10.0 - Kitaria Fables
Sep 8, 2021

With its cute looks and furry battle elements, the game has the merits of a typical RPG with a friendly look. Kitaria Fables can be a decent entry RPG to the younger audience as well as those who are getting sick and tired of dark and grimy fantasy worlds, this one can be a breath of fresh air for some.

An actual horror game that perfectly delivers fear to the players. Unlike other traditional horror games, the fearsome AI constantly evolves based on the player’s actions and decisions. Clever jump scares are hidden all around the corner but some of the UI and insanely difficult puzzle elements somewhat misdirect the atmosphere of fear into frustration.

This RPG feels as if you’re reading an illustrated fairy tale. The story is heart warming and full of cutesy little characters. But something feels off in terms of the recommended consumer pricing in comparison to the very short play time the game provides. Either if the price could be lowered or an extended play time may be required to justify the current pricing.

Creature in the well has creatively mixed the Pinball genre with hack-n-slashers. But due to the overall simplistic design, the creativity doesn’t quite last long until the end. For those who wanted to try out something fresh, other than traditional dungeon crawlers, it’s definitely worth trying it out.

8 / 10.0 - Tails of Iron
Nov 13, 2021

Tails of Iron tried its best to oppose the stereotypes of ‘Souls-like games are always hard’. Still it’s merit heavily relies on precise and reactive combat, it definitely feels more of a breeze than the traditional Souls-like titles out there. The story of a forgotten decedent, trying to rebuild its kingdom is very touching and boosts the heartfelt sincerity with the help of its colorful illustrations and graphics. If you’ve never tried or feared to play a Souls-like genre in the past, perhaps this game was meant for you. Could be a gateway to a new perspective to this style of genre.

8 / 10.0 - Demon Gaze EXTRA
Dec 5, 2021

It’s been 8 years since its original release and has been revived with an upgraded content with its righteous title to reflect its new beginning as ‘EXTRA’. Extra graphics, soundtrack and system has all been powered up for the better gameplay experience. If you’re into Dungeon crawlers similar to ‘Wizardry’, or haven’t even delved into it’s genre, it’s a great introductory title to act as a stepping stone into the grand world of RPGs

The game features the actions and activities of the all-female squad under the Principality of Zeon. The progression of the game feels as if you’re watching the original anime, which has quite the bright personality and elements to it. Since the game is technically based from the Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2, the variety of the Mobile Suits and the roots are still the same as the original. It also supports the cross over elements from the original game’s save file which allows extra contents to both sides of the game so this game was definitely planned since the development of Battle Operation 2. You’ll be getting the most excitement out of the game when the control scheme becomes a bit more getting used to, so it’s also a good idea to have a go at Battle Operation 2 beforehand, which is available to play for free.

8 / 10.0 - Embr
Jan 8, 2022

With Embr, you get to be in the shoes of a firefighter. The game allows up to 4 players in multiplayer and various modes that support it. One tedious bit is that you need to grind the game for a while to earn in-game currency in order to actually extend more features. There's also noticeable frame drops throughout gameplay. Other than the technical hiccups, the game is well fit for all ages to enjoy.

One of the few games released on the Xbox One where it’s suitable for the entire family. The best thing about it is that anyone can get into the groove pretty quickly once you get used to the beats. Compatible for online play, it’s a great addition to the Xbox library especially for those who were waiting for a decent rhythm game. All of the customizations and additional music can be obtained from currency earned only from gameplay, which provides challenge and stays true to what a video game’s definition of replay values.

This is the latest installment of the Empires series, which you get to enjoy both steel clashing action and the know-hows of managing an empire. You’re going to be part of the gigantic era of the historica three kingdoms of the east. The best thing is that you will now be playing as your own original hero and create your own history. One nitpick of the game would be the countless numbers of short and repetitive loading screens that may interrupt the flow of the excitement.

5 / 10.0 - Maglam Lord
Mar 8, 2022

The funky settings of the world of Maglam Lord is somewhat weird but appreciated. Sadly, the variety of the content becomes too repetitive due to the lack of variable maps, recycled character motions, a short number of skills to learn and most attacks require the players to mash and grind buttons in quick succession to do more damage than not. There is no value in multiple playthroughs either so overall the game feels like an empty can at most.

7 / 10.0 - Relayer
Mar 17, 2022

Relayer’s story carries the feels of the old 80s and 90s action robot animation series. The protagonist sisters soldier on throughout the story, unaware that there are plot twists lurking in several corners of the arc. Although the game bears a fantastic storytelling, the in-game system of combat and mechanics show signs of disappointment which fails to support the aligned scenarios within it. While the combat is based on simulation RPG, countless repetitive animations and uncomfortable UI caused unintended actions to occur frequently. Also, the status effects in this game are quite unfit for a single player game.

Unlike its traditional series, this game tried its best at changing the entire genre, by introducing a whole new series of the ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’, it also comes with the biggest map size of all, still with plenty of animatronics which run towards you with unique personalities. One particular aspect to look out for, is the fact that the new glamorous looking Freddy is now your companion. Depending on the player’s decisions, there are alternate endings to seek. It’s a little unfortunate that you don’t get an in-game navigation system even with the larger scale of the map, lacking the convenience since its decision to take a jab at a new genre, which, in fact could also be the creative selling point to focus on a larger base of audience at the same time.

There have been endless breeds of simulation games, but nothing will be as realistic as this game so far. While it’s the only simulator for mowing lawns, the developers put in the most time in recreating the reality, it can be troublesome to find and fun in playing this game. It’s still very unique in keeping everything as real as possible, as you’re not only just mowing lawns, it can train players in how to manage their own lawn mowing business.
