Critic Reviews for Vampire's Fall: Origins

There’s nothing inherently wrong with homages. Vampire’s Fall is a little on the nose with its love of Diablo at times, but there’s a lot of merit to Diablo, and a turn-based open world RPG with that aesthetic and tone is certainly worth paying attention to. It’s just unfortunate that the developers were unable to elevate this beyond being a shallow grind, with more misfired attempts at humour than a narrative that’s actually worth following. Vampire’s Fall is lengthy and content-rich, but it will be quickly forgotten.

Clearly made by gamers with a strong affection for the 2D RPGs of old, Vampire's Fall: Origins surpasses the standard of typical mobile games and delivers a solid experience that manages to stand on its own two feet. For gamers who want a value-for-money RPG and who can abide the lack of bells and whistles, look no further than this bargain bloodletter.

Vampire’s Fall: Origin is a solid little throwback RPG but its mobile roots do show. Those origins are apparent in both the visuals and the repetitive mission design. You do get a lot of content here though especially for a game priced as low as this one is. If you’re looking to spend some as a vampire and explore a vast world then you might want to check this one.

Vampire's Fall: Origins is not going to blow RPG fans away, but given its relatively modest price tag, there is actually a good deal to enjoy here. The dialog and setting are high points and the combat has that old-school grind to it that classic RPG gamers will feel right at home with.

Whether it's the fact the game truly feels like a pick-up-and-go title where crafting is left on a timer, the areas of exploration where paywalls feel like they existed, or the really shoddy gearing system, Vampire's Fall: Origins, is one that could have benefited from an overhaul before being ported.

This is one of those titles that leaves me on the fence...

Vampire's Fall Origins is a solid RPG that will keep you entertained, however I think the developers will mainly focus on the mobile version and the PC version was more to attract people to the mobile version. That's why I recommend trying the mobile version of the game first, which is free, and then if you enjoy the game, buy Vampire's Fall Origins on Steam. The game has Czech localization.
