Critic Reviews for Svoboda 1945
Svoboda 1945: Liberation is an excellent learning tool, but unfortunately isn't a very good game. That doesn't mean you should skip experiencing it, as the way it tells Czech history through small 'minigames' is excellent, as is its beautiful black and white animations. As a collection of key historical World War 2 moments in the Czech Republic's history, it's a triumph - but if you're looking for meaningful character exploration and a fulfilling main story, then you'll be disappointed. Still, I recommend Svoboda 1945: Liberation to anybody with an interest in history who wants a better way to learn outside of stuffy classrooms and textbooks.
Svoboda is a unique crossover between a video game and a docu-film. It manages to do both things in an interesting way and opens up the door on some events in history that we should never forget.

Svoboda 1945: Liberation is more of an interactive, gamified history lesson than a traditional video game but it is executed in an interesting and original way that prove to be an important way to entice people to learn more about history.
Amusing history lesson about value of freedom. Just too short.

Svoboda 1945: Liberation is a fascinating deep dive into post-war Czechia that asks players to consider if everything is worth saving or if some things are better left in the past. Its use of mixed media, including FMV, historical footage, comics, and mini-games provides a unique approach to learning that I hope is replicated in many more educational games. Although the sheer amount of information can be a bit to take in for those completely unaware of the topic, it’s an educational experience everyone would be richer for having. If you love history and are ready for an emotionally impactful title that asks tough questions and dives headfirst into controversial conversations, be sure to check out Svoboda 1945: Liberation.
Svoboda 1945: Liberation defines why some stories should be told in the medium of games. This multimedia experience is filled with impactful emotions and hard truths that are long overdue in lesser known war stories. Although its short lived as far as games go, the lessons you learn are so unique that Charles Games has set a precedent in storytelling.
Svodoba 1945: Liberation highlights the need to show history from all its points of view. An interactive documentary that mixes full-motion, animated vignettes and mini-games in a very successful way. A story whose main weakness is perhaps the lack of strength of its protagonists.

Svoboda 1945: Liberation is a unique game that's touching and heartfelt. Even if the gameplay is quite simple, it takes advantage of the interactive medium well to tell its heartbreakingly beautiful story about the aftermath of World War II.
