Critic Reviews for Yu-Gi-Oh! RUSH DUEL: Dawn of the Battle Royale!!

Rush Duelling is a great idea, but Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Dawn of the Battle Royale!! is a poorly executed waste of time. While it could be a fun entry point to the franchise for 5–7-year-olds, the frustrating pace of play, coupled with the issues where things just don't work as they are supposed to, makes it far more trouble than it's worth. Do yourself a favour and let this one pass you by.

A game that makes its own, offering duels on duels to those who want to face them. A good debut for Rush Duel, with the hope of seeing better and better titles for Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Dawn of Battle Royale modernizes the formula by changing some of the core mechanics of the card game, and the result is a quicker, faster-paced gameplay that is fun to play. Unfortunately, under the technical aspect the game is not as exciting, with frequent and unexplicable frame drops and a drab open world.

Focusing more on the single player again, the game manages to be an interesting opportunity for Yu-Gi-Oh!'s veterans and a smart entry point for new players in the saga.

RDBR locks you into a system that doesn't seem to understand what has made YGO so diverse and fun to play. If anything, I'm glad we got Rush Duels out of the way since next year will see the release of a proper YGO card simulator in the form of Master Duel. If this is all we hear of Rush Duel in the West, that will be fine by me. With this Battle Royale, everyone ends up being the loser.

Yu-Gi-Oh's peak fans are already taking to the private square at Duel Links, where the most powerful card is the credit card. Yu-Gi-Oh for those of you who wink at Yu-Gi-Oh from afar like me! RUSH DUEL: Dawn of the Battle Royale!! It's actually perfect. But when the price is added to the problems that cannot be ignored, the hands inevitably move away from the buy button.

The Rush Duel format is a welcome change of pace after having to deal with all that Synchro / Pendulum / XYZ nonsense, but it turns the overall Yu-Gi-Oh metagame into something way more simplistic than the fun strategic madness it once was. Think about that before considering buying Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Dawn of the Battle Royale, as this format will not please everyone.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Dawn of the Battle Royale !! is an example that new is not always better. The Rush Duel mechanic is at most a nice gimmick that fails to carry an entire video game. The main reason for this is the small number of cards and the mandatory use of ready-made decks. The unconsumed characters and the accessible game world do not provide any consolation.
