What I loved the most was that Infernax did something that almost no retro-inspired game has done up to this point: it took me back. It made me appreciate and get excited over the exploration and discovery like no other game has in decades. It didn’t just look like a game from my childhood, it felt that way, and it drove me to keep going forward, to find out more, to see what I could do and even if I had the power to do it.

We can enjoy Infernax as a good neo-retro that takes us back to past times, but with a polished, fairer and more satisfying development and gameplay. But we are also facing an excellent adventure with its own specific weight that, with its very well managed combination of action, platforms and RPG, pleases anyone who has not had to live through those simple, although also more complicated, years of 8-bit systems. A job as measured as it is fun and enjoyable, whatever type of player you are.

Infernax manages to bring out the best of each genre in an adventure, quite well done. It presents itself as an experience that has a challenging gameplay and at the same time able to entertain everyone. With plenty of side missions and choices that change the course of the story, this is without a doubt a game that brings countless hours of gameplay and fun. Don't be fooled by the graphical appearance of the game, Infernax is undoubtedly a must-play for fans of the 16Bits era and eagerly awaiting a challenge worthy of their talents!

Infernax is a great throwback to the “open world” type of exploration from the 8-bit era whilst taking some of its elements and making it more accessible to newer players. As someone who mostly grew up playing on PC, I had a blast playing it and finding out about its inspirations.

Infernax is one of the best indie games I’ve played in a long time. It’s a great throwback to not only Castlevania 2, but other great NES games from my childhood as well. The gameplay here is solid, the story is fun and humorous, and there are plenty of extra goodies to keep players coming back for more. The game is a bit on the difficult side, but there are plenty of fun options to play the game as you want to. Infernax can be completed in about 4 hours, but with all the extra endings, the replay value here is high. I feel like this one is well worth the $19.99 asking price for anyone who loves games in this style, or older gamers looking for a throwback from their childhood.

This 2D, NES-era-inspired action platformer features rock-solid gameplay and an excellent progression system. While it definitely isn't for everyone, it's not trying to be for everyone, it's trying to be for people who like demon fetuses, platforming, and pixel art -- and it's succeeding.

About as subtle as a mace to the face, Infernax is for players who like their games fiendishly difficult, bloody as hell, and endlessly rewarding.

As the closing act meets its end, a litter of bodies left in your wake, Infernax achieves a rare thing. It becomes more than its influences, more than a simple genre piece, but a powerful entity in its own right. The only negatives that rise from the ground are a few boss battles being easy to defeat… and that’s it. Robust, neatly wove, disgusting and wholeheartedly engaging, Infernax is a fantastic example of influence creating new greatness.
