WWE 2K22 arrives to be a new reference in wrestling video games with a fresh and dynamic proposal that, although it needs a lot of learning, is the most polished to date. The graphic part has also had a great improvement, giving us the feeling of being in combat thanks to the details of the suits, the fighters. An excellent game for all wrestling fans and more than necessary if your last title was 2k20 to get rid of the bad taste in your mouth.

WWE 2K22 was a necessary reset for the series. 2K endeavored to reimagine what a pro wrestling game can play like and in the process found a style of gameplay that is infinitely more enjoyable than the realistic simulation-based gameplay we’ve had in past games. It does a great job of focusing on the in-ring action while showcasing all the pizazz that comes with pro wrestling. MyRise and MyGM are welcome additions and are two modes that could be pillars of the series going forward if they continue to be improved upon. While not perfect, see Showcase/MyFACTION/slight gameplay issues, and some of the modes are admittedly lacking in depth, WWE 2K22 is a good building block for future games that offers a lot of fun gameplay.

If you look at WWE 2K22 as a foundational game for the future of the WWE franchise, then this is undoubtedly a step forward. The greatly improved in-ring action is not nearly enough to make up for ho-hum to poor modes that give you little reason to return to the actual wrestling.

WWE 2K22 brings new life and dignity to a beloved franchise, letting us forget the previous episode's misstep. The new graphics engine, the almost fully recreated gameplay, the richness of the offer and the general atmosphere that is felt in the game, overshadow the small imperfections still needing work to be done. Visual Concepts deserves our applause as a studio finally worthy of bringing forth the future of WWE's franchise.

Putting things simply, WWE 2K22 is an improvement in almost every way, surpassing 2K20 in aspects that matter to merit a definite return to form. Some things like MyFaction and MyGM could be fleshed out a bit more, but it does mean that Visual Concepts has finally steered the ship back on track and could build bigger and better experiences based on this outing.

WWE 2K22 attempts to make up for the massive failure that was 2K20, and for the most part, does so successfully. Featuring an overhaul of the gameplay mechanics and taking some pointers from the SmackDown vs. Raw series, 2K22 stands to become the greatest wrestling game in the 2K series!

WWE 2K22 is the best WWE game 2K have released in a very long time. It’s still not perfect and there are moments that still hamper it, but it’s a lot more user-friendly, there’s a good chunk of content here, there’s a lot of customisation possibilities, a healthy, varied roster is available – even though many of them don’t work at the company anymore – and you’ll find a lot of investment for your time here between MyGM and MyRISE. A real step up and improvement from WWE 2K20, things are definitely back on the right track.

The real pleasure with WWE 2K22 is in the hilarious community creations and chaotic action in the ring with friends. Download someone's crude rendition of Queen Elizabeth II, jump into an Extreme Rules match, and take them down from the top turnbuckle. At its best, it's an absolute joy.

Though not a flawless reinvention, WWE 2K22 is a monumentally large step in the right direction for the series.

While WWE 2K22 does suffer from content bloat, it’s a vast improvement on WWE 2K20, and one of the best games of the entire WWE 2K series. With a number of smart fixes, streamlined action gameplay, and a handful of engaging, well-designed modes, it has successfully shed the franchise’s bad reputation.

WWE 2K22 marks a return to form for the series, with the entertaining wrestling and wealth of modes sure to keep WWE fans happy for a long, long time. Whether playing in the likes of MyRise and building up a career, MyGM and running your own show, or Showcase and playing through the stand-out moments of a legend of the sport’s career, there’s plenty of variety here that ensures that the game is about MORE than just the wrestling. Add to that the creativity offered when it comes to your own creations and it’s clear that WWE 2K22 has covered all avenues in offering the most robust experience yet. Of course, it’s not perfect and there are a few technical hiccups here and there, whilst the fighting can be a little formulaic in places. WWE 2K22’s strengths certainly outweigh its weaknesses though, and believe me, it DEFINITELY makes up for the travesty that was WWE 2K20.

After the last entry which was the absolute low point for probably any franchise in the history of video games, it seems that the developers have used the hiatus in the best possible way and finally released a professional wrestling title with many entertaining modes and a whole new combat system with modern visuals.

There are still reminders of the series' rough past, as you're bound to run into some errors with this many physics at play, but Visual Concepts has finally delivered the positive shake-up that fans hoped for once the company took over development duties from Yuke's.
