Critic Reviews for Various Daylife

Various Daylife is the epitome of an experimental RPG. This is the kind of game that you'll have a much better time with if you limit yourself to only fifteen minutes or maybe half an hour a day. Stay within that time frame, and the daily stat management, quick quest runs, and the simple class system will just about hit the spot. Play for much longer, and you'll soon realize how relatively shallow the gameplay loop really is. We'd give this one a very light recommendation for anyone who's obsessed with the work of Team Asano or for those who want a simple and light RPG for their Switch-if neither of those describes you, you're not missing much by choosing to pass.

With a boring gameplay loop and a wasted combat system, Various Daylife proves that porting games from mobile to console isn't always a good idea.

This game misses on many fronts and its tiring main mechanic leaves little else to enjoy.

Various Daylife is held back by its mobile game nature and too many wrong choices that trasform the game in a series of jobs and actions that no one would really love to do.

Various Daylife is an RPG originally designed for mobiles with the intention of being played for short periods of time. It has well-designed battle mechanics, and despite trying to provoke a sense of routine, players with little patience for casual systems will leave it after a couple of hours.

Various Daylife does not measure up to other Team Asano games. It's obviously a game made for Apple Arcade and it probably should have stayed there, especially since the cost is quite high. In my opinion, if you want good JRPGs, there are several better options especially on Switch. You will be better served by Live A Live, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 or Persona 5 Royal.

Although I see a great limitation and superficiality in the narrative design, find significant problems in the gameplay, and find this game visually too simple, the final balance of this work is still slightly positive to me due to the inventiveness of its battle system and the charisma of its art. I believe that some design choices are more understandable for the mobile platform, although still criticizable, but they stand out even more now on a platform dedicated exclusively to games. In any case, the title is recommended for fans of casual JRPGs, especially those who are not very demanding in terms of text, and enjoy light elements of social interaction.
