ONI: Road to Be the Mightiest Oni Reviews
Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni was a pleasure to play overall. Its balance of narrative and action didn’t ever seem to weigh heavily on either side. The music choice, while feeling fresh and modern did however seem a little out of place.
A mix of ideas that doesn't quite work, accompanied by a soundtrack that completely breaks the aesthetics and immersion, as well as a somewhat simple and clumsy gameplay, all wrapped in a fantastic art direction, but full of constant frame drops.

Despite the issues listed, ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is a title with frantic action moments. The good equipment options and files that give more context to the plot make the exploration of the island feel rewarding. Further, it's an extremely beautiful work with a good soundtrack for both the dramatic and hectic moments. Lastly, the relationship between Kuuta and Kanna is developed through enchanting conversations, making it an emotional thing to witness.

Despite its heart and soul, this game gets bogged down in one of the most uninspired gameplay mechanics of the year.

ONI: Road to Mightiest Oni has a gorgeous semi-open world with an emotionally driven soundtrack. While the gameplay may seem lacking at some points, the story makes up for it with an interesting tale about a little Oni’s struggle to become strong enough to protect his people and about the friends he makes on the island. That is if your PC can handle the jitter that happens in the second area.
Poignant but padded, ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni has charming art, beautiful music, and simple but fun gameplay. But for its every pro, there are two cons. Performance problems and a screen filter hinder the game's visual presentation, the overuse of vocal tracks diminishes their impact, and the too-many missions filled with spongey enemies lead to the combat feeling monotonous. There's a lot of heart and style here, but they're obfuscated by unfortunate design.
ONI : Road to be the Mightiest Oni is a different adventure and it feels that way. Quite brave and original decisions have been made that have created a unique adventure, although this can also be its biggest problem, since its structure based on fairly similar tests can end up being a bit repetitive. Even so, ONI: Path to be the Oni is a remarkable game, a beautiful story told from another point of view.
