Although it’s a pretty barebones remaster, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is still frighteningly brilliant, taking the 3DS classic to new heights with its improved graphics and quality-of-life changes. While it might be a tough sell for those who played the original due to its lack of new content, it’s also a must-have for Switch owners that enjoyed Luigi’s Mansion 3 and have yet to experience its predecessor. With a terrific single-player campaign and the resurgence of the supernaturally addictive online co-op ScareScraper mode, the sequel to Luigi’s Mansion is now better than ever on Switch and lives up to my expectations.

I had a lovely time playing Luigi's Mansion 2 HD as it brought back memories as well as solidified how special of a series these ghost-busting adventures are. Plus, the animation and audio design remain some of the best in all of gaming. 👻

I’m not exactly sure why Luigi’s Mansion 2 was chosen for an HD remaster over the original, but after all is said and done I’m glad this game got another chance at life. Outside of the mission structure (which I even grew to like at the end), I never felt this carried over any of the negative connotations with it being a 3DS conversion. The gameplay feels fresh, and the controls rarely gave me any issues. Having a second thumbstick goes a long way in making this feel leagues better to play than the original. They haven’t really added anything substantial, so people who have played the original won’t be met with any new surprises. I had fun revisiting this charming ghost adventure, but I can’t say it’ll be worth it for every player given the steep cost. It does have me wanting to dust off my 3DS for the remake of the original and redownload Luigi’s Mansion 3. I’m back in a Luigi’s Mansion mood, and hope we get to see a fourth game on Nintendo’s next console.

About the fact that Luigi’s Mansion 2 is still a port of a Nintendo 3DS game, I personally don’t see any problems with that. The scenarios, of course, show some signs of their origin, but the remastering — if we can call it that — and the sharp art direction created a feeling that this game almost couldn't be made any other way, The controls were perfectly adapted for the Nintendo Switch and a great strength ends up being its structure, because even though the console is also a portable, few games are made considering this as a priority. Of course, most games these days you save wherever you want, and it's virtually possible to pause any game anywhere using the Home menu. With that said, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD’s level structure is perfect for playing on the go.

Despite featuring new graphics and beautiful facial expressions, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD fails to provide a strong enough reason for players who have already experienced Dark Moon or still own a Nintendo 3DS to return for the new Switch version. However, for new players, the remaster is a must-have title for Nintendo Switch owners, especially for those who enjoyed Luigi’s Mansion 3 or haven't played Dark Moon on the 3DS.

With substantially improved graphics and a more flexible control scheme, the game offers a ghost-hunting, puzzle-solving experience that's just as fun as it was a decade ago. However, the lack of significant additions may disappoint those expecting more from a more polished remaster.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is a straightforward remaster of the 3DS game, bringing it to the Nintendo Switch with minimal changes. Unlike a full remake, it offers only improved resolution and 3DS screen adaptation. The framerate stays at 30 FPS, multiplayer lacks new features, and it's essentially a direct port. Is it recommended? Yes, if you haven't played it before. It's fun to catch ghosts with Luigi, and the secrets and collectibles add to the enjoyment. However, it could have offered more.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is all in all a good addition to Switch's 2024, which is now living on many memories. It's a shame, however, that the launch price is problematic in our opinion, given the few new features and especially other, even more substantial remastereds previously released on the hybrid console. Nintendo, you can do better!

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is a good game and deserves to be included in one of Nintendo's distinguished series. Despite some of the defects present in this part, which the series avoided in its sequel, this new version does not offer any significant additions that justify its price except raising the graphical quality , And making it playable on Nintendo Switch .

This is still a really fun game, and I appreciate it being available on a more modern system that doesn’t give me hand cramps like the Nintendo 3DS. I am not a big fan of the mission-based structure, forcing me to revisit mansions, and hindering exploration. That being said, the core gameplay is still really solid. It’s a wacky and light-hearted take on survival horror that simply works, all thanks to Nintendo’s trademark charm. I just think that Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD isn’t worth the AAA pricetag. If, by any absolute miracle, you can find it for a discount, grab it. Or maybe use one of the eShop’s coupons.

While it may not be perfect or add more to what the original came with, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD lets those who never had a chance to play it experience it in a whole new light. Its bones may still scream 3DS handheld game, but you can appreciate how much went into making the game shine on Switch.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD builds on the strong foundation of the first game, adding new layers of gameplay and upgraded features for the Poltergust 5000. The variety of missions, combined with a perfect mix of puzzles, action and humor, creates an immersive experience that keeps you engaged at all times. The breathtaking graphic presentation brings the atmospheric mansions to life, each with a unique, creepy yet charming look. The lighting, shadows, music and sound effects enhance the spooky atmosphere. While the game perfectly manages to find the balance between tension and lightness. Making both young and old get sucked into this game.

Nintendo has clearly polished Luigi's Mansion 2 HD and as a result, the levels look sharp. However, not much else has changed, so the game still feels outdated. It’s nice to control Luigi and the Poltergust with two thumbsticks, but the controls could be more precise. Additionally, there are no checkpoints, meaning you have to complete a level once you start it. The mission structure in Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is theoretically fine, but the professor causes too many interruptions, and you are automatically teleported back to the bunker. This frequently disrupts your flow, and since Elvin Glad tends to talk a lot, these interruptions sometimes feel longer than the gameplay sessions themselves. It’s a shame they didn’t reduce this. If you already own the game for the 3DS, the price for this version is quite high. It would have been better if they had included Luigi's Mansion as well. The gameplay is solid, and it's a fun introduction for newcomers. The various mansions and ghosts provide diverse levels with plenty to collect. You should expect to spend at least fifteen hours with Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, offering a nice and humorous single-player experience. Overall, it's a good remaster, but Nintendo could have done more with it.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD may not have the immersive atmosphere, memorable humanoid ghosts and surprising sequences of the other games in the series, but it offers any Nintendo Switch owner an addictive experience of exploration and combat against otherworldly beings, with a deeply portable design that makes it perfect for consoles like the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch. I'm not telling you anything new if you've already experienced this campaign on the 3DS, but that's because there's nothing new to say. Aside from the indispensable accommodations for the game to run on current hardware and a respectable improvement in presentation, this adventure has been ported to Nintendo's hybrid console under a glass dome, and there's no argument to win over those who still own Nintendo's last portable console.

Offering the best way to play Luigi’s Mansion 2, but falling short of the crown of best game in the series thanks to its superior supernatural sequel, this HD remake is an ideal pickup for any Switch owner who didn’t own a 3DS.

While it is not quite on the level of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD offers a fine visual update to a 3DS classic. Unfortunately, unlike other recent Nintendo remasters, this new version does nothing to alleviate the annoyances of the original game, such as E. Gadd’s all too frequent calls. Ultimately, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD makes for an okay addition to the Switch-library, but it can’t be called essential.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD brings to the Switch a 3DS classic that deserves to be explored by new players. With a rewarding exploration scheme and a good variety of challenges, the title is a great addition to the system, but it could have received greater effort, such as more content, to enhance its return.
