Critic Reviews for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge - Dimension Shellshock
This has all the charm of the base game, but with a challenging new stand-alone mode that adds quality and value. The opening challenge won't be for everyone and those early runs can be pretty unforgiving, but once you see those unlocks rolling in and with an upgrade or two under your belt, you'll soon wonder why a Turtles roguelike hasn't been on your wishlist from the very beginning. With these added bells and whistles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is still totally tubular, dude.
Dimension Shellshock features a fantastic new mode and two great characters to make TMNT: Shredder's Revenge an even better game.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge: Dimensional Shellshock is an interesting addition that provides a new Survival Mode to the core game. However, it provides you with fun access to play with your bosses of the game and a fun upgrade system utilizing crystals. Its difficulty holds it back, and it feels like it was designed specifically with the most hardcore audience in mind. Adding two new characters doesn't add enough to the core game to warrant a purchase.
Story Mode and Arcade Mode are fun enough, yes. It’s cool seeing the parade of classic stages and scenes, it’s cool fighting all the old enemies. And I love the music and visuals. It all comes together to make a delightful Turtles experience. But Survival Mode is the first time I’ve felt properly compelled to keep playing. It’s deeply frustrating at times, but not in a discouraging way. I want to get better! I want to improve my last run, I want to power up all the characters. If Shredder’s Revenge felt light, then Dimension Shellshock adds significant weight. I highly recommend picking up this DLC.
TMNT: SR is the game that keeps on giving. They've given us free updates, and now the first paid DLC. If this trend holds, and they keep adding characters and modes, this could become the greatest arcade game of all time. You get to unlock more stuff for nine characters. Do you deserve this goodness? No. Should you get it? Shell Yeah.
We are facing a DLC that continues to bathe in the charm of the base game and in turn adds quality and a totally renewed challenge that will take time to master, but that knows how to conquer the hearts of the players blow by blow, pizza by pizza. The only disturbing thing is not knowing if we will have more additional content in the future, but for the moment, what arrived is more than enough. Cowabunga!

Better late than never, Dimension Shellshock fleshes out TMNT: Shredder's Revenge with more replayability and even more nostalgia.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge – Dimension Shellshock is seated in the halfway point between good and great. On one hand, the Survival mode is better served for parties wanting a good challenge. On the other, TMNT fans should be excited about additional characters for replaying the already fantastic beat-em-up. If you're looking to replay the single player experience with two new characters or a challenge for yourself and your friends, then Dimension Shellshock is a no brainer.
