Critic Reviews for Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator

Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator is just that: cozy. There’s little reason to strive for perfection in a game that merely wants players to dabble in its goal of building whatever kind of idyllic flower patch desired. This kind of directionless aura may be a turn off for those seeking a different kind of simulator but what’s on offer is hard not to enjoy.

Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator is a beautiful game that offers a relaxing experience, but some design choices clearly need extra watering. Unfortunately, its stylish charm can't make up for repetitive gameplay and lacklustre progression.

Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator feels like an unfinished project or one that was rushed to meet a deadline and some parts have been left out. Somewhere in the rush to make the coziest experience possible, the fun took a backseat and as a result the basic idea backfired. It is cozy, but after a point it is hardly engaging.

The laid-back flower grower simulator has its flaws, but it offers relaxing gameplay in a nice way.

I have had a great time with Garden Life so far and look forward to playing more. The game delivers an engaging story while having the freedom to play at your own pace. And with different approaches, you can manage the garden your way. The easygoing tone is strengthened by the graphics and audio. The setting is beautifully detailed and the soundtrack and voice acting go hand in hand very well. It feels like a small British village and a game you can spend many hours with. I am pleased to give Garden Life the Thumb Culture Golden Thumbs Up award! I am looking forward to what Still Alive Games develops next. If you enjoyed my review, you can find my thoughts on the preview of Ultimate Fishing Simulator 2.

I have a lot of mixed feelings here. As I said before, I like the vibe. Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator has a lot of great things going for it, like the music, the look, the movement, most of the sound design, and the freedom the game gives you. But there are a lot of downsides keeping me from making up my mind. The items are cute, but if you try to do too much at once, your game freezes. I adore the aesthetic, but I really hated the inventory system. After a lengthy debate with myself, I think I like Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator. But I just can’t make myself recommend it to anyone. It feels finished, but the polish that games like this need to be fun is missing. I don’t think I can make a 100% sure statement on whether or not you should pick this up. If you really love the idea of gardening in a sim and you don’t mind the weird noises and the terrible sorting and menuing, then I could see wanting to spend $25 USD on this title.

Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator is a heart-warming and touching game. Furthermore, its attention to detail is fascinating. However, the small gaming world may disappoint some gamers. I loved the characters, the audio, and the straightforward mechanics. As such, this slow-paced title should be enjoyed between fast-paced triple-A titles.
