Critic Reviews for STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy
The slightly uneven middle child of the trilogy still boasts excellent performance, myriad control options and a crisp soundscape that shines on Switch.
Alas, one big gripe remains for all three titles and that's text size. On handheld, this isn't too much of an issue, but on some displays you'll be squinting to see the dialogue window's contents. This is a holdover from the original PC version of the games and it's a shame that these genuinely great remasters didn't address this.
For a game that came out on PC almost two decades ago, it looks great on Nintendo's console. Resolution is stable when docked and handheld, with motion smoothing that makes rapid camera movement fluid. Options are plentiful, with copious sliders for controller sensitivity. There’s only a gamma slider for visuals, though, and it would have been helpful to enlarge the tiny text, a strain to read on a large screen.
A passionate work of research and conservation that brings to light three splendid chapters and a game design idea that I can't wait - like many others in the editorial team - to experience directly in one fell swoop. On the other hand, the second chapter of the franchise is increasingly missing. And I can't wait already.

Whether you're an old-school fan revisiting the horrors of the Zone or a new player curious to dive in, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy offers excellent value for money with a gameplay loop that still holds up.
We wholeheartedly recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone Trilogy for both its gameplay mix of action, stealth and roleplaying and for the very convenient price of the package, which will cost you less than a new release on Nintendo Switch. The quality of the port is great too, so we don't see a single reason not to give these games a go.

In spite of its technical issues, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy is still an engrossing and tense collection of some of the best twitch-based survival-horror action RPG that also happens to be set in a radioactive Russian wasteland. The atmosphere in these titles are some of the best executed and the gameplay is very deep when it works. It is fair to see why many prefer S.T.A.L.K.E.R. over Metro since it offers an immersive sim-like experience on an ambitious scale for its time, while also having just enough magical elements that keep the universe a little bit of a mystery.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy brings a nice collection of classic games that you can buy in a joint package or separately. However, it is a pity that the games are practically in their original state without improvements, and the price is quite high.
