Été Reviews
Ete might be simplistic, but it has so much heart and gives you so much room to express yourself that, like a paintbrush and an easel, it can be more than its parts. Technical hitches disrupt its flow and a shallow narrative can hold it back, but it’s worth seeing what you can create for yourself.
Été is a video game that is good for you – literally.

Beautiful and cleverly designed, Été is a game all about painting: literally paint the world around you, and create works of art for the people you meet. It's held back a little by a few technical niggles, but it's impossible to let them get in the way of how utterly joyful this game is to play.
Été is an extremely relaxing representation of a painter's studio trip. We do not just paint and sell our pictures, but it is up to us to colour the entire world we live in. It is a pity that the technical component is not sufficiently polished, which sometimes undermines the gaming experience.

Été clearly has something special inside of it. Despite a few technical hiccups and limitations, its bones are loaded with some genuine creativity. It can spark inspiration and joy in the process of slowing down, taking in the details, exploring a community, and expressing yourself with an approachable (but imperfect) creative tool. But a few strange decisions hold it back from ever achieving the brilliance it desires. What's there is good, but it could have been great. For those willing to embrace its imperfections, there's plenty of beauty to discover, so consider dabbling in Été's watercolors and witnessing the stunning artwork of Impossible's take on Montreal.
Despite my “slow day” worries, I really enjoyed Été. The game is zen-like and relaxing. You never feel rushed to complete your missions. The people you meet are jovial and smiling (except for the grumpy customer at the bagel store). The city is beautiful, colorful and lively. The game's music is soft and intoxicating. It blends perfectly with the watercolor visuals and the zen spirit you feel while playing. In short, it's the perfect game to play... in summer!

Été is an extremely relaxing game, at which I spent several truly enjoyable hours. Although the storyline seems to have been added by force and the optimization leaves much to be desired, the slow and relaxing gameplay means that these shortcomings don't bother you at all. Painting the world brings considerable satisfaction, and the image editor in the right hands can produce beautiful results.

Été is a relaxing painting game with a summery feel, gorgeous visuals, and a lovely soundtrack. It feels perfect for this ridiculously hot summer when the best thing we can do is stay inside and wait for the heat wave to pass. But you know, it will also be perfect for the cold months when we need a reminder of what summer feels like.
