Critic Reviews for Great God Grove
"At its best, Great God Grove is about untangling a web of everyone's desires to ultimately make their realm a better place."
Great God Grove had me hooked until the moment I had cracked the thing and brought peace and harmony to the Grove.
Great God Grove brims with charm and originality, offering a fresh take on word puzzles and gods among people. Its offbeat humour and playful design will draw you in, but clunky mechanics and a fairly straightforward narrative may leave you wanting more cohesion and polish. With a little more divine intervention, Great God Grove's quirky moments might have ascended to a truly special adventure.
We live in the most important era for communication. Words have never had so much power as they have now. It's possible to ruin people's lives with a few incriminating words, be them from themselves or someone who lives with them. Great God Grove conveys this zeitgeist we're living in, aligned with a very charming story and an impeccable presentation. It's a necessary and crazy game for the insane days we've been watching. Sometimes, the divine drama needs intervention from a nobody to solve the mess, the opposite of a deus ex machina. Even with the language barrier [of it not being available in Portuguese], it's a unique and fun narrative to see and experience.

Great God Grove delivers laughs, head scratches, and godly drama. Despite its quirks and frustrations, it offers a fresh twist on apocalyptic tropes with charm, humour, and empathy. The colourful world and genuinely odd gods will linger in your mind longer than expected. I bestow upon Great God Grove the Thumb Culture Silver Award. Godspeed, brave postie—go save the Grove!
If you enjoy puzzle games, the works of Double Fine or Undertale, you’ll find a lot to love in Great God Grove.
Great God Grove is a weird, whacky and fiercely bold adventure, whose dialogue-vacuum puzzle-solving will suck you in.
