Critic Reviews for Days Gone Remastered
Days Gone Remastered is the best way to play Bend Studio's open world zombie game thanks to the PS5's unique features and Horde Assault mode.
Days Gone is revving up again with a remaster that, while unnecessary and hard to justify, has reminded us why we loved the original game so much. If you weren't familiar with it and own a PS5, this is the perfect opportunity to discover this world of bikes and monsters.

Returning to play Deacon St. John and exploring the dangerous lands of Farewell felt like a trip back in time to 2019. The experience was more rewarding than expected thanks to its new features, extending the hours of enjoyment beyond the game's main plot even further. Days Gone Remastered delivers on absolutely every front, proving itself to be a more than adequate remake, not only for existing players but also for new ones who decide to delve into it.

With a haunting open world to explore, a substantial narrative and excellent combat, Days Gone Remastered is a solid action adventure and easy to recommend for fans of the genre.
Keeping the original structure intact, Days Gone returns to PlayStation 5 in a version that - thanks also to an appealing price tag - stands out as a purchase well worth considering for open-world enthusiasts. Visually polished, lengthy without becoming tiresome, and quite entertaining, it also features a range of new game modes alongside the main adventure that add variety. The epic tale of Deacon St. John still fully deserves high praise today.

So, to invest money in this remaster just seems like giving some false hope to fans that are interested in seeing more from Deacon and gang but who am I, just a black guy reviewing games. I am sure Sony knows what they are doing……right?
For those who have already sampled the grim delights of Days Gone on PS4, paying £10 for the definitive version of one of 2019's most underrated open world adventures that brings with it a hugely entertaining and worthwhile horde mode, seems like a bargain to me. As for the rest of the package, it really did surprise me just how well Bend Studio's most marquee effort has endured, offering up a smart take on both open world game design and the zombie apocalypse more broadly that other developers have struggled to match. Put simply, if you haven't played Days Gone before, this is the point where you leap in with both feet.
For the love of the game, Bend Studio has proudly brought back Days Gone with a PS5 version that truly shines on Sony's current-gen system - and even brighter on PS5 Pro. It's shrugged off the original PS4 launch to prove the title has always been great, and now with Horde Assault, it delivers a comprehensive package coursing with quality. If the original game released like this, perhaps we really would have a sequel by now.
