Tempopo's rhythmic puzzling is undeniably great, but is let down by a lack of mechanical pacing and an absence of Witch Beam's coveted storytelling.

Tempopo is a heartwarming little adventure that brings so much energy with its clever gameplay and charming visuals. Watching the little creatures successfully march as you solve each level is always satisfying. The straightforward mechanics in Tempopo ensure a very approachable experience for younger or inexperienced audiences. However, there are too many areas where it feels too simplistic, and lacks the polish to stand out as an exceptional puzzle game.

Tempopo stands as a puzzle game full of heart and joyful melodies, easy or hard enough for any kind of player. It's satisfying gameplay loops and adorable designs help it shine, but hopefully there's even more content to come in the future.

Cute and colourful, the music-based puzzles of Tempopo are both challenging and chill, letting you tackle them entirely at your own pace. But with a bit of a disconnect between its childlike visuals and difficulty level, I'm just not entirely sure who Tempopo is for. And as fun as each level is when your solution all comes together, getting there can be a bit of a repetitive drag.

The fact is that as a fan of Chu Chu Rocket, I am continually disappointed that there isn’t more done with that kind of puzzler, and Tempopo more than scratched the itch. This has been my favourite puzzle game in years.

Despite there being a lack of big emotions and intriguing environmental storytelling, there is an absolute gem of a puzzle game to be found.

Considering what Witch Beam did with games like Tempopo, Assault Android Cactus, and Unpacking, I’m starting to wonder if the team can’t miss.

Tempopo is a chilled out and laid back puzzler that isn't too difficult, yet it provides just the right amount of challenge to keep you playing.

It’s definitely a cute game, and the theming is super fun. The soundtrack too is delightful, and there was plenty to enjoy about it. Unfortunately, even though it’s by no means a bad game, the puzzles just didn’t suit my personal preferences. But that doesn’t mean that you won’t love them! Everyone has different preferences, so don’t let my naysayer attitude hold you back if this game appeals to you. There’s so much to love here, and I’d say it’s certainly worth trying out.

If you’ve ever wanted a game that blends brain-tickling puzzles with bloomin’ adorable charm, Tempopo might just be your jam — strawberry-flavoured and served with a soothing synth soundtrack.

Driven by a passion for creation with music as its heart, Tempopo is unlike any other game you’ve played. Beneath its colourful and childish exterior lies a impressive degree of depth to its gameplay, sleek design, and an absurd attention-to-detail for audio. After the runaway success that was Unpacking, Witch Beam have once again changed directions and prove to be a studio not bound by genres.
