Critic Reviews for Death End re;Quest: Code Z
Death end re;Quest: Code Z is a major fumble for what has so far been Idea Factory's most promising franchise yet. The idea of a sci-fi horror mystery dungeon adventure is right up my alley, but confusing writing and frustrating gameplay mechanics hold this one back and make it one of the most frustrating games I've played all year.
Death End re;Quest: Code Z is a fun and difficult roguelike dungeon crawler that rewards you for finding the Death Ends. It does have its flaws in execution, but it is a fun core to flesh out.
Death end re;Quest Code Z marks a stunning comeback for Compile Heart and is a treat for fans of the first game.
For almost fifty American dollars, you are not getting your money’s worth. Death end re;Quest Code Z is outrageously overpriced. The visuals look like it’s a twenty-dollar PlayStation 3 downloadable game, and the low-effort visual novel scenes have no energy or dynamism.
It’s far sharper and smarter than the over-the-top fan service suggests it will be. That’s the archetypical half. Meanwhile, the JRPG mechanics are competent and enjoyable, but very standard with little experimentation.
After a couple of great and highly underrated RPGs, Death end re;Quest: Code Z certainly disappoints with simply being a generic take on a Mystery Dungeon game. 🐝
Death End re;Quest Code Z is another game added to Compile Hearts mixed catalogue of games and sits on the lower side in terms of quality, it's certainly not the worst and at least they tried something new with the gameplay mechanics but ultimately these lacked and made what should of made a good tension building game even better.
Death end re;Quest: Code Z had potential but fell short. Despite the returning cast and Sayaka's appeal, a weak plot and bland gameplay hold it back, making it a spin-off suited only for die-hard fans
