Sedap! A Culinary Adventure

Critic Reviews for Sedap! A Culinary Adventure
While flawed and buggy at times, Sedap! A Culinary Adventure is a co-op game bursting with flavour.
With a unique aesthetic and familiar-yet-fun gameplay, SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure is a fun food-filled romp that'll last you for a few hours if you prefer a food-serving party style-action game experience without the fuss of extra people to work with. It's a veritable Southeast Asian feast for the eyes & reflexes, one covered with love and a unique grub-centered coat of Ais Kacang ice shavings with the overload of syrup.
As an experience, SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure has the makings to climb the summit of co-op games. Its distinct focus, coupled with the gameplay loop, aesthetics, and systems that are more welcoming of players of all skill levels. The brand of delectable chaos is best enjoyed with a partner, but even if you have to go it alone, the kitchen is still hot enough to ignite the culinary passion, and that’s always a good thing.
SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure is a wonderful and whimsical co-op title that blends together cooking mini-games with hack-n-slash combat elements to create a solid experience, whether you're playing with a player two or alone. While there are still some bugs and glitches, as well as some unclear mechanics that can leave you confused, SEDAP still delivers through its enjoyable gameplay and interesting story.
Sedap is actually a popular Malaysian expression meaning delicious, and this game really tried to be. Much like a succulent meal, SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure is a game that is best enjoyed with someone by your side. There is enough similarities that if you enjoyed games such as PlateUp! or Overcooked! you will enjoy the chaos of this game. However, SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure is also different enough that it will have you playing not just for the frantic cooking. I loaded into this game with the hope it would be a new Cuisineer and it isn’t. It has taken the core combat ingredients of Cusineer, combined them with the spices of cooking party games such as PlateUp! and let them marinate. Although there is still the garnish of stress. For this reason, I give SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure displays Southeast Asian cuisine like never before, but it must be played with a friend and is best played with an interest in the culture.
