The Abbess Garden

Critic Reviews for The Abbess Garden
The Abbess Garden is successful because it knows who it is. You are not making the world a better place. You are bringing back a forgotten place, discovering how plants talk, and slowly pulling apart a thread of history that is full of mystery.
At first glance, the game looks like a peaceful experience focused on tending and restoring a garden. Something slow, relaxing and easy to settle into. However, as I spent more time in the game, I realised there was a little more happening beneath the surface.
When the garden thrives, the game hums alongside it, inviting you to slow down and truly notice.
Despite its espionage and politics intrigue, The Abbess Garden is a cozy little retreat of greennery and flowers, that offers a reprieve from the real world. We can garden to our hearts content, at our own pace. We can progress the story whenever we want, or just spent hours wandering about our little garden. If you like narrative-driven, nature inspired games, give The Abbess Garden a try, you might love it as well.
The Abbess Garden stands on an intriguing contrast between relaxing farming gameplay and an increasingly intense story. Unfortunately, it is significantly held back by its technical condition and weaker audiovisual presentation.
