Critic Reviews for Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker
Visual novel fans are getting yet another amazing gaming experience with a new standalone Tavern Talk game from Gentle Troll Entertainment. A brand new story set many years before the first game, combined with familiar mechanics, drink mixing features, and intriguing characters presented in a D&D-inspired visual novel adventure that bursts off the pages one chapter at a time!
Overall, Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker weaves together a sprawling story in which your choices actually matter. While that may not be revolutionary on its own, combined with the charm, the autonomy, the genuine representation, it feels earned.
Nuanced characters, amazing LGBTQ+ representation, and a phenomenal atmosphere make Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker an easy recommendation.
Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker is another solid installment in the drink-making visual novel genre, though I admittedly enjoyed Coffee Talk Tokyo a bit more.
Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker holds its own in others. The quest construction, the stat-balancing brew system, and the sense that your choices actually do something give it a layer of involvement that Coffee Talk Tokyo doesn't quite match.
Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker is a delightful new story set within the Tavern Talk universe. It has all the winning elements from the previous game, and I can only hope that this will not be the last we see of the land of Phesoa and its quirky characters.
While sharing multiple elements with the Coffee Talk titles, this franchise manages to have a distinct feel of its own worthy of some attention in its own right
Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker is a solid cozy visual novel. Its engaging quest-building and potion puzzles offer great player agency, making it a worthy, relaxing pick for $15.99.
