Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter captures everything that made the original so endearing while giving it an impressive makeover that enhances its elegant storytelling and charismatic cast.
This remake proves that it's entirely possible to craft a title that satisfies every single side of a JRPG fan and cements itself as one of the finest titles the genre has to offer today.
They’re massive storytelling endeavors that are always compelling in their ambition and earnestness, with a massive cast of characters who are a joy to spend time with. Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is very much an iterative sequel to the first remake, and that’s all it really needed to be.
Direct sequels simply don't get much better than Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. With its already excellent predecessor setting the stage, this brilliantly heartfelt RPG is free to tell an outstanding character-driven story.
Another swing and another home run for GungHo. Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is another stellar remake that provides plenty of quality of life improvements over the first game but also tells a fantastic story with plenty of added cutscenes and fantastic voice work. Though the majority of the games exploration and combat haven't gotten many updates, they don't really need to as the Trails games have some of the best combat in JRPG's going right now.
All in all, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is a great update to a legendary title. I had a great time plunging back into Liberl, and I think you will, too.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter continues its winning streak with excellent storytelling, robust and fluid hybrid action/turn-based combat, and jaw-dropping music and environmental design.
