Mr. Shifty Reviews
It's not as long or hard as Hotline Miami, but it manages to grab you until you finish it. Hooray for a well balanced dificulty.

A great top-down brawler game for on the go with 18 chapters including constant rising difficulty throughout the game
We want it to be clear that the version we played for this review was the full Switch eShop release. We've been told that the game runs much smoother on PC in the launch period, so you might want to make that your platform of choice if you want to check this one out – and honestly, you should. There's nothing groundbreaking to be found here, but it's a decent game with interesting ideas that unfortunately aren't fully fleshed out. We just can't fully recommend the Switch version in its initial form, and it's disappointing that this one falls under the category of games released in a sub-par state that leave owners hoping that promised updates will save the day.
A solid riff on Hotline Miami, but with its own, fun spin.
A blissfully fluid action game with a compelling twist, let down occasionally by tedious encounters.
All in all, Mr. Shifty was a lot of fun to play for the first few hours, but towards the end of the game it stopped introducing new challenges and started to stagnate.
Mr. Shifty knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat yet tentatively conserved all the same.
Mr. Shifty is a wonderful indie game with gameplay that makes you feel unstoppable. It's an exhilarating feeling when you take out enemies with teleportation. The levels are challenging and, most importantly, it is extremely fun to play. At $14.99, I can't recommend Mr. Shifty enough.
Mr. Shifty reminded me a whole lot of Hotline Miami when I first played it. I came away from my E3 demo amazed. Developer Team Shifty took the exemplary gameplay from Hotline Miami, tweaked a few things, added a new warping ability to the character to make the game unique, and ported the game to Nintendo Switch. Surely, this would be an excellent indie release on Nintendo's newest platform?
You'll have a cathartic blast with Mr Shifty, but your adrenal gland will have been worn out before you see the credits roll, and just like its titular hero, it doesn't stay with you for long.
Can you go from loving to loathing something in two hours? Apparently you can, if it overstays its welcome.
The biggest problem for the game is the current technical issues on the Switch. It’s bad enough that I think the game should not have been released until the issues were ironed out. The developer has stated that it is working on fixing the issues, but as of this review, the game is just in too rough a shape to recommend.
A failed attempt to copy the Hotline Miami formula.

Mr. Shifty is like Nightcrawler from X-men starred in a boring Hotline Miami ripoff.
Mr. Shifty is a very fun and fast-paced Nintendo Switch release with plenty of content to enjoy. You're looking at around 4-7 hours to finish the whole thing depending on skill, which makes its $14.99 price tag feel right on target. The only thing I could complain about is a couple of rooms in which the game suffered from some considerable slowdown when the area was too crowded, as well as the one time the game crashed on me. Luckily it was at the start of the final stage, so I just hit continue on the main screen and was back in action. tinyBuild has already said that Team Shifty will be working on a patch for the game to solve this, but rest assured it's certainly not a deal-breaker as the game is very playable and entertaining in its current itineration.
Although Mr. Shifty is clearly inspired by Hotline Miami, it sets itself apart with the speed of the gameplay and the focus on quick reflex action. The Nintendo Switch version has some bugs as at launch, and the game can be beaten in just a few hours, but the fun and addictive experience makes this a worthy addition to your Switch library.
Mr Shifty makes an incredibly strong first impression with its unique teleporting twist on top-down brawling action. But it's a game that overstays its welcome, with a dry well of ideas that struggle to evolve past their basic premise.
Arguably a better follow-up to Hotline Miami than its own sequel, but it wastes its best idea on repetitive action that lacks any substantial challenge.
Mr. Shifty is not as refined as its closest analogue, most likely the game will not be as a huge army of fans, but to catch a couple of evenings, it certainly can, the developers have tried to make something new, maybe not entirely successful, the main problem of the game is the similarity of gray levels which could be done varied.
