Far Cry 5 is walking on some new refreshing paths but is by far not fearless enough to completely reinvent Ubisoft's Far Cry formula. The fresh co-op mode, the reduced HUD, the new companion system and the modified Open World concept extend the well-known gameplay with some interesting facets, but retain the typical Far Cry charm. The co-op mode has to give in to its numerous technical problems and degenerates to a hardly serious, albeit fun addition, which ambitious co-op veterans should give some time to mature. Mission-threatening bugs and Ki dropouts turn out to be massive disruptive factors that put your own frustration tolerance to the test. Nevertheless, Far Cry 5 really entertained us on our 30 hour journey. The exaggerated humor, the charismatic antagonists and the lively game world motivate us enormously, the atmospheric atmosphere contributes its rest to create a charming adventure, which is certainly not a milestone in the history of the series.

Far Cry 5 is an extraordinarily entertaining addition to the Far Cry series and almost the best installment. Just almost, but even the few minor faults don't spoil the otherwise excellent gameplay.

Far Cry 5 offers the best mechanics the series has seen to date, from much-needed updates to driving and shooting to the addition of vehicles, the Guns-For-Hire system, and the changes in progression. On top of the new additions and updates, Hope County, Montana is the most well-realized and original location the series has seen to date and one of the best open-worlds to come around this generation. The variety of content, the way players discover it, and the process of progression all lend to a sense of freedom and possibility befitting the eye-catching northwest American locale. The story falters where past entries did not, with less memorable villains and repetition in the mission structure, but it is a worthwhile sacrifice to allow players to enjoy the game at their will. Far Cry 5 shows that the series is willing to head into new territory; whether it continues on this trajectory remains to be seen, but the ideas here could breathe new life into the open-world genre as a whole. Ubisoft’s design philosophy feels indebted to the game’s new location, as it is imbued with a unique sense of freedom and power to the individual not previously seen in the series. While the new changes are not all rocket-pops and fireworks, Far Cry 5 still goes off with a bang worthy of any Fourth of July celebration.

Far Cry 5 took me by surprise, it’s as big, beautiful and bizarre as 3 or 4, but Far Cry 5 is refined to create my favourite Far Cry experience to date.

Overall though, Far Cry 5 is a great experience. I could list out issues with the game and it's story, but at the end of the day there is one question that needs to be asked, was it fun? My answer to that is a resounding yes

Far Cry 5 delivers amazing gaming experience. It's a great game in almost every aspect. The only flaw is that it's not the best Far Cry game I've played.

I had a heap of fun with this game and it’s definitely my favourite in the series. I wasn’t bored for a second and cannot wait to go back to it some time; I felt I did rush it a little as I wanted to get to God of War, but I would have definitely spent more time on it had that not been the case. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the ending of the game, but I don’t want to spoil that. Trust me pick up this game, you won’t regret it.

Far Cry 5 is one of the best games of all time because it innovates in the franchise at the same time that it feels like a mixture of all of its previous games.

Despite having a terrific antagonist, Far Cry 5 seems to struggle to connect the player to the story.

In general we must say that Ubisoft leaves us a little 'forbidden on the final judgment. On the one hand we have a game that has been able to fascinate thanks to rich and curated settings to detail and well-made and characterized characters, on the other hand we have a narrative that, although engaging, can not take flight as we would like, always remaining in a median area. Unfortunately we find a gameplay already seen that, despite having nothing wrong, ends up being a bit 'too well known. In short, a title that proposes a formula already tasted, which on the one hand has nothing wrong but that on the other fails to renew itself and therefore ends up being beautiful, but not exceptional. A game however interesting, full of content and missions that surely will please the faithful.

Far Cry 5 is an absolutely stellar game that does a lot of things right, as well as fixes a lot of issues with the previous games.

While Ubisoft's FPS formula is beginning to show its age with gameplay and mechanics that are too familiar for comfort, encasing the package with an exigent theme such as religious zealotry makes all things (seem like) new.

I love Far Cry, I really do, there's something about this series that makes me smile no matter what the game. I might be horribly biased by the open world nature of the games, and like many of my favourite titles before it, it's the mix of unpredictable gonzo fun and sudden random nature elements that combine to make it such a great experience. Far Cry 5 seeks to keep that flavour from previous Far Cry titles such as 3 and 4, and push the boundary of its design a bit further.

Overall Far Cry 5 gets a 7/10, it feels like it has taken away many points that made the series so fun and immersive in the past. Gunplay is still fun, with plenty of options for your arms, but with the new skill system, it does force you outside of your preferred gameplay style more than once.

Far Cry 5 seamlessly fits itself into the franchise. The beautiful open world, an oddly charismatic antagonist and a variety of missions ensure hours of gameplay. Unfortunately, Ubisofts newcomer has a few shortcommings, which show as the game progresses. Re-used character models, searching for sidequests and, most saddening, microtransactions for getting equipment early on, belittle the gaming experience, which can even be enjoiyed in coop. As for tinkerers, Far Cry 5 with its "Arcade" provides a sheer endless amount of maps and quests, which are built by players around the globe or yourself.

The best thing we can say about Far Cry 5 is that it is one of the most entertaining sandbox survival adventures in the franchise. Montana is a gorgeous slice of new terrain that is fraught with peril and the road ahead that Far Cry Arcade represents is exciting, to say the least. Simply put, the fifth version in Ubisoft’s series of madness, freedom, and exploration is Far Cry perfected.
