MLB 18: The Show Reviews
Overall, MLB The Show 18 isn't exactly a homerun, but it's definitely a double.
MLB The Show 18 offers a ton of options for new players to craft their own experiences while still giving veteran players the level of depth they'd expect from the latest entry in a series that's been totally refined over the years. Some of its modes might seem a little dated, and only time will tell if MLB The Show 19 can finally be the game that makes Franchise mode a little more exciting to manage, but Road to the Show's new RPG mechanics and The Show 18‘s overall great gameplay will give players new and old plenty to enjoy.
A strong baseball title, with an almost perfect gameplay, brilliant graphics and lots of contents; still, some game modes can feel a bit unsatisfying at times.

MLB: The Show 18 is a refined experience that stands tall as the best baseball game currently on the market. Of all the iterations of the title, this is, to my eye, the definitive best and, I imagine, exactly what fans of the genre are looking for. Beyond that, in a similar vein to soccer or hockey games, MLB: The Show 18 is an enjoyable, competitive, multiplayer experience that can easily be enticing to non-sports fans if they simply look past the baseball veneer to see the mechanically sound, tactile, multi-faceted game below the surface; you don't need to watch or play baseball for the game to function as a more than serviceable pastime and I recommend a rental to anyone who is on the fence about getting into this genre.
MLB The Show 18 brings everything a baseball fan could want and more to the plate with its diverse mode selection and deep customization options.
Great baseball game for the biggest fans of this sport. But really hard for new players.

Road to the Show remains the soul of The Show 18 to me, with everything else feeling like a fun distraction, like getting to step into the shoes of baseball's past greats or the tasting the 8-bit flavor of retro mode. As I progress more into my player's career, there's this unshakable knowledge that he's never going to be better at some things than he is now. He will be in a box — an enjoyable one, but a box nonetheless.
I don't think MLB The Show 18 is as good as last year's game, but the improvements over the last two years are solid enough to carry the franchise momentum forward. Hopefully, next year's version will get back to the winning ways and bring more substantial changes.
"MLB The Show 18" is still a great game for those passionate about baseball, but the consistency the series has displayed over the past decade has been at least somewhat broken with this new edition. For many, the fantastic gameplay will offset the loss of modes, the lack of advancement in others, and the lingering server struggles. Ultimately, though, it's becoming more clear now than ever that the series is begining to have trouble meeting the heightened expectations now present within the genre.
MLB The Show 18 is as deep an offering as Sony has ever put out despite the lack of an online franchise and a few smaller issues. From the incredibly in-depth modes like Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty to the gameplay changes that see weather impact how a ball flies through the air and the way hits come off the bat, MLB The Show 18 is easier than ever to become invested in and enjoy.
MLB 18: The Show sets the gold standard for baseball games and is a worthy addition to any sports fan's growing library.
It's no surprise that MLB The Show 18 excels in almost everything. It's a truly superb title that's among the best you can currently find in the sports games. Don't be discouraged by the fact that it's only a baseball game.

MLB The Show 18 may not exactly bring us any new game modes, but the changes all throughout the game in physics, presentation, and new features make MLB The Show 18 another grand slam for the series.
MLB The Show 18 is one of the most impressive sports games to date. It's packed with features and is friendly to those just starting out and those who are well versed in the world of baseball. It's a game with so many options that you'll likely be playing a year from now.
MLB The Show 18 remains one of the most beautiful and polished sports sims around.
Baseball is not a sport that we here in South Africa know a lot about, but the MLB series does a very good job at showing us what all the fuss is about.
