Critic Reviews for WILL: A Wonderful World

WILL: A Wonderful World is a thought-provoking and creative VN for those who can appreciate it.

The storytelling is where WILL: A Wonderful World shines best, especially when multiple character's stories begin to overlap, showing the same scenes, but from different perspectives.

Instead of the traditional crossroads of visual novels, WILL: A Wonderful World lets you play with a bunch of separate stories by altering specific parts within them... and then doing so again to follow an alternative path. This intriguing mechanic isn't as good as it sounds, though, and the game is in some dire need for some additional artwork. At least the various plot threads are good enough to make this a pleasant recommendation for genre fans.

I did enjoy how the stories intertwined with one another, but there were also times when I wouldn't get a letter from one character for hours and it would be hard to pick up where his or her story left off. Before picking this one up, be aware that it's essentially a novel with multiple characters and various endings to discover to move the overall story forward. I'm thinking to myself: it is a wonderful world, but not necessarily a wonderful game.

WILL: A Wonderful World is an entertaining visual novel/puzzle game with an interesting gameplay loop. The stories of the characters you will get to interact with are interesting and will encourage you to come back to the game as you learn more about them and how their lives interact with the rest. You're looking at 8-10 hours to complete the game depending on how good you are at finding the solution to each puzzle, and if you go for finding 100% of all endings for each scenario.

We are facing a very original and fun proposal that, without a doubt, must be tested: the puzzles are very fun and the results of our decisions will often bring us surprising turns. And all this, finally, translated into Spanish, which will allow us to enjoy its history and its intricate letters much better.

A clever puzzle mechanic makes WILL: A Wonderful World stand out from similar multi-story visual novels. Become a God and help out those in need by, amusingly, swapping out aspects of one person’s life with another or simply alternating the order in which certain events occur. Despite the game being rather linear with its main narrative and triggers for progression, there are numerous outcomes to each and every letter you interfere with, temporarily changing the writer’s life until you opt for the best possible outcome. The writing is brilliant, the characters are interesting, and the overall concept of the game is fascinating – what more could you want from a fifteen-hour puzzle-based visual novel?
