The Path of Motus
Top Critic Average
The Path of Motus is ambitious in what it seeks to communicate about the relationship we often share with games, and includes several notable spins on traditional gaming components of the puzzle platforming genre. But its arguments need to be embedded within a more rigorous gameplay structure if they're to truly land.
The Path of Motus wasn't that great of a time being a very bland experience while not digging into the core message enough for a better impact.
Path of Motus is proof of the very concepts it preaches throughout.
The Path of Motus is a competent, sometimes fun indie game with a naive take on the nature of bullying.
The Path of Motus is pretty to look at and has some good ideas, but it fails in its execution throughout, its story too simplistic for adults, and its gameplay too difficult for children.
The Path of Motus is a fun puzzle platformer with an interesting way of presenting us with an anti-bullying message. The game has a solid art style, entertaining logic-based puzzles, and a story in which you will engage with different stages of Motus' life to better understand what is going on in this world of his. If you're looking for a different type of game, then be sure to check The Path of Motus on PlayStation 4!
Although my journey with The Path of Motus was short, when I put down my controller and went to bed for the evening I was still thinking about the message within. It reminded me of a lot of events in my life that I'd rather forget. Any game, no matter the size and scope, that can drag those dredged up feeling from the hole I buried them in is both a blessing and a curse. Now excuse me while I shovel them back down and drown them with ice cream. (Thank the gods this game came out during National Ice Cream Month.)
The Path of Motus is a game with heart, but that's not enough to make it an essential excursion. You'll find some fun here if you take the trip but be prepared for an uneven and sometimes frustrating journey.
Given that this is the product of a development team of only two, The Path of Motus is an impressive feat. The game does have it’s downfalls – it doesn’t provide anything particularly ground breaking in the gameplay department and it leaves some of the better gameplay mechanics poorly exposed.
The Path of Motus is a short game which cleverly provides a metaphor for life behind a game about a goblin making his way through a forest. If given a choice, will you opt to retaliate against the bullies and thus become one yourself as you breeze through your miserable life, or will you combat your obstacles without conflict and follow your dreams? As with life, the right path isn’t necessarily the easy one. Along the path, you will come across walls, pits, and doors which must be overcome by using your brain and solving one of the many logic-based puzzles thrown at you. Through the clever use of the narrative, the music and the visuals, The Path of Motus delivers a story which so many of us can relate to and take inspiration from.
