11-11: Memories Retold, however, is still a game worth more than a look-in, and at roughly five-to-six hours, you'll gain a deep and respectful look at one of the world's most jarring global conflicts, from the perspectives of the individual.

11-11 Memories Retold is an amazing virtual monument to the casualties of World War I. Its story about two ordinary soldiers that are drafted to war against their will, is told in an unique, borderline experimental way. And it's one of the rare games that will make you think not about just solving logic puzzles, but about the cruelty of war and its repercussions.

11-11: Memories Retold is a story full of symbolism, questions of humanity and beautiful scenery. The game deserves more fine-tuning, which would make it a great. Our recommendation is clear: buy some tissues and seven points out of ten.

Memories Retold is a memorable and engaging adventure that needed to be made. However, like a history lesson you half paid attention to, that doesn't necessarily mean it was enjoyable to play. Ultimately, it's good enough to slog through, but that may not be the case for everyone.

It's better to look at the paintings of Monet and Van Gogh in the museum - and in this case you''ll definitely not regret the time spent. We can't say the same about 11-11: Memories Retold after finishing it.

11-11: Memories Retold tells a deeply touching human tale of war. Of one man seeking a grand adventure and heroism. Of another man attempting to reunite his fractured family. Of the many who lost their lives serving their respective countries.

11-11: Memories Retold in addition to its anti-war message is a story about the strong friendship that can grow among people who face adversities, no matter where they come from. As an interactive experience it works flawlessly, but at times it forgets to be as much a game as needed, and that's a pity.

And that’s the thing about 11-11 Memories Retold – should I expect to be surprised? Should I rightfully hope to learn something? Should I expect the medium to be used in a new way to make me think about things differently? Is this video game just not for me? Who then, is it for? I’m upset that 11-11 can be both so serious and so inane, so against-the-grain yet so grimly uninventive. I’m bothered by the feeling of myself being bored by this game when its earnestness and thematic content tells me that my entertainment here shouldn’t necessarily be the point. Where is my empathy? Why can’t I think of the poor soldiers, civilians, etc., the people who lived through this? I like that it tries to work against the video game paradigm of glorifying violence; I hate how it gave me the longest five hours of my life in the process. Press “F” for feelings and so on.

Instead of going to the action filled WWII we've seen countless times, 11-11: Memories Retold wants to show us the human element of the war. Even when the narrative beats doesn't hit where it should, is definitely an interesting experience supported by a great art direction.
