An impressively assured attempt to prove that video games can tackle serious subject matter with respect and a level of insight that only interactivity can provide.

11-11: Memories Retold is an exquisitely painted, touchingly told and occasionally tedious war story.

There's so much that I like about 11–11 Memories Retold; the wonderful story, exceptional vocal performances and, for the most part, a beautiful and refreshingly unique art style. These elements all delight, yet they are let down by some poor minigames and underdeveloped gameplay mechanics. Despite these issues though, I was compelled to see this story to its conclusion, thanks to some smart plotting and a narrative that zips along like the very best page-turning novel.

A beautiful moving experience, set in the First World War. 11-11 Memories Retold feels like playing a graphic adventure inside a Renoir o Van Gogh picture. Sadly it is too easy and short.

11-11: Memories Retold is a refreshing figure among graphic adventures that are strongly bound by narrative and that deviate from the traditional point & click gameplay. Aardman Studios provides a plot that will draw players' attention from the beginning to the very end, all of it mixed with one of the bests OST that can be found within videogames..

As Valiant Hearts or This War of Mine, this game wants to show the most painful side of the war. Harry and Kurt are two characters with good stories and drawn like a Monet canvas. But some clumsy puzzles and predictable situations do not let them reach higher.

From Valiant Hearts director comes a different WW1 experience. An interesting story that ultimately falls on forgettable game mechanics.

Though it might lack typical challenge, 11-11: Memories Retold is a journey that is absolutely worth taking. An affecting and tragic look at war from the perspectives of two soldiers who seem least keen to wage it, this is pretty much essential for anybody with a heart.

Stiff animations and some plot holes hinder the project, but overall 11-11 is among the best World War I stories ever told in video games.

It's not the most engrossing narrative I've ever experienced, but it's certainly incredibly memorable. I enjoyed all of my time with 11-11: Memories Retold and can heartily recommend it to the narrative adventure fans, or anyone who just wants to see a game rendered in an incredibly unique art style. I can't wait to see what kind of game Aardman makes next.

Remembering those who fought, died, and lived through the First World War, 11-11: Memories Retold captures your imagination with vivid artistic presentation. Despite not being an action-packed or violent war game, it manages to pack a hefty emotional punch.

One or two conceits to video gaming aside, 11-11: Memories Retold is a powerful narrative experience that explores turmoil beyond battlefield violence. With a unique look and haunting soundtrack, it is a respectful tribute to those whose lives were affected by the First World War.

Fanise's new game feels like an interesting way of remembering the Great War, but it does not take full advantage of the possibilities offered by the video game medium.

11-11: Memories Retold is an immersive, beautiful, and emotionally charged game. It's at its best when it functions as a playable film, with you making the major decisions. Where it falls down is in its clunky gameplay and story beats that are locked behind secret item collection. However, the strong celebrity performances and engaging story more than make up for this and create a really unique experience that is both thought provoking and enjoyable. As the subtlest World War game ever made, there's nothing more appropriate to play to commemorate the signing of the Armistice.

It's better to look at the paintings of Monet and Van Gogh in the museum - and in this case you''ll definitely not regret the time spent. We can't say the same about 11-11: Memories Retold after finishing it.

11-11 : Memories Retold chooses to tell the story on the ground, through the eyes of simple human beings embedded in a conflict so much bigger than them. French studio DigixArt delivers a memorable adventure, served by a remarkable and right writing and acting, superb impressionist visuals from Aardman Animations, and one of the best soundtrack of the year. Too bad that its core gameplay really lacks of challenge and that there's still some persistent bugs. But there could be no better way to celebrate peace in 2018.

You should play 11-11, and not just because it's a chance to enjoy a captivating piece of interactive storytelling. This game is important, because of the way it makes you think, without ever telling you what to think. Lest we forget.

It has its flaws, and definitely isn't mainstream, but 11-11: Memories Retold is an important and emotionally potent game. For players with patience, and those who lean towards shorter, contemplative and character-driven gaming experiences, it's something to add to your library. For everyone though, gamer and non-gamers alike, it is an engrossing and educational look at war from a relatable, individual perspective. And right now it feels like the world could do with just such a well-though-out reminder about the humanity of others.
