Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure Reviews
Twin Breaker is a unique brick breaker for PS4 and Playstation Vita that will satisfy Sacred Symbols fans but doesn't do enough to win over an outside audience.
It’s a lot of fun to play, though – and should prove a treat for fans who’ve been following Moriarty since the days of Shatter on the PlayStation 3.
Overcoming its unnecessary and glib narrative, Twin Breaker manages to be a fun, if not terribly original, retro adventure with plenty of content.
On the whole I enjoyed Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure. I am not normally a fan of this type of game but the old-school presentation and interesting story made it enjoyable. I am happy I got to play it. Plus you get 2 versions for the price of one, what's not to like.
An exceptional way to spend several hours.
Despite some flaws, Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure is a sincere homage to an underrated sub-genre. It captures what made classics like Arkanoid and Breakout beloved while putting its own special spin on the formula. The result is brick-breaking bliss that I would recommend to most lovers of arcade indies.
Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure is not the most innovative game on the market. It follows the Arkanoid and Breakout formula pretty closely, but it does do enough new to make the concept feel somewhat fresh. And if you’ve never played a brick breaker before, this is a good entry point.
A rare refresh of the brick-breaking genre, Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure is a love letter to fans and less so for everyone else.
While Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure would never be mistaken as the next Shatter, it’s still an entertaining brick breaker throwback with an ambitious first contact narrative and plenty of replay value including extra modes and well-written unlockable missives.
Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure is a great arcade brick breaker that goes over and above in terms of storytelling and varied gameplay. Lillymo Games has proved to be an excellent choice of developer to bring Colin’s vision to fruition and when you consider that this is cross-buy with the PlayStation Vita it represents great value for money too.
Your enjoyment with Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure will depend on a few factors. First of all, if you’re a fan of the podcast and therefore, a massive Playstation fan. Second of all, if you’re into Breakout clones, because that’s basically what the game still is, even though it has a backstory and a few gameplay gimmicks.
With Twin Breaker, the team at Lillymo, along with Moriarty and Maldenado, have constructed a wonderful take on a time-honoured genre that has been woefully underserved in recent years.
