Borderlands Legendary Collection Reviews
Borderlands Legendary Collection is an excellent Switch showing for this beloved series, though it's difficult to determine if the price is right; sure, there's an enormous amount of content here so you're certainly not being ripped off, but it's old content and these games are routinely extremely cheap on other services. Still, it's a technically excellent port of three expansive, enjoyable shooters, and they're a perfect fit for the Switch. Whether played alone or with pals, the compulsive gameplay is terrific to dip into or get stuck into for a massive grinding session. If you've somehow never played Borderlands before, you can't go wrong with this set. If you have, but want to try a different character class on the bus ride home, now's your chance.
After the Borderlands 2 fiasco on PS Vita, it is a joy to once again have timeless classics and still full of humor and good gaming experiences gathered in a single package for Nintendo Switch, where we mainly recommend be played on handheld mode.

Going back to the start with Borderlands, you get the whole story of the Vault Hunters as they seek to uncover the secrets of Pandora’s Eridian legacy — and score lots of sweet, sweet loot. It feels a bit outdated in light of the improvements implemented in Borderlands 2 and 3, but it still hold up surprisingly well. The Pre-Sequel gives some backstory to on one of the franchise’s key characters, Jack; and Borderlands 2 gives Handsome Jack center stage in what is probably the best game narratively as well as in its more refined action. These base games along with all their respective DLC make the Borderlands Legendary Collection a great value of action-packed insanity, on the Switch or any other platform.
The question of whether I would recommend you getting the Borderlands: Legendary Collection is a simple one. If you haven’t played the Borderlands games before and don’t own another system that can play them, these ports are an amazing and great way to play the games. If you have played the Borderlands games before, this collection does a great job of presenting the games you’ve loved and adds the benefit of handheld play and all previously released DLC. But be aware that for the visual and performance aspects you will not get the same experience as on other consoles or PC.
All three of these games are exactly what you'd expect from other versions: the same shootin', lootin', and possibly rootin' and tootin' found on other platforms. However, this style of game is a great fit for a portable console and may be worth double dipping if you've never played the DLC before.
Borderlands Legendary Collection is a fantastic compilation of Gearbox's prototypical looter shooter series. Fans and newcomers can set out to Pandora on Switch, safe in the knowledge that very little has been lost, while the portability and optional motion controls add something meaningful to the experience.
While it may not be my cup of tea, Borderlands Legendary Collection is a solid collection of games, and an admirable addition to the Switch's library.
A decade of gaming in a single package, the latest return to Pandora still stands tall as a testament to brilliant game design, and even with a few technical concessions along the way, it makes for one handsome pack of fun.
