It's Officially The End Of An Era For The Nintendo 3DS

The Nintendo 3DS had a good run, but the latest update finally closes the book on the console once and for all. Despite a weak start that resulted in a price drop shortly after launch, the 3DS picked up steam over time, amassing an incredible game library that kept the system perennially selling. Things have been winding down since the release of the original Switch with the closure of services like the 3DS eShop.

Now, Nintendo has ended repair services for the New Nintendo 2DS XL, as reported by VGC. Despite the difference in name, the New 2DS XL (or LL in Japan) was a member of the 3DS family, featuring the same ability to play 3DS and New 3DS games but cutting support for the 3D effect. The end of repair services was announced in a September 2024 post on X, which set the date for today, September 5, 2025.

Repair services for all other models of the 3DS and 2DS had already been shut down, so the New 2DS XL's exit marks the end of an era. In recent years, Nintendo has been slowly depleting its stock of repair...
