Critic Reviews for Deer & Boy
Deer and Boy is a rare example of handcrafted work, made with immense love for details and characters. The simple puzzles and fairy-tale story might put some people off, but it is still one of the coziest games of 2026.

Deer & Boy definitely has them, and if you're looking for an emotional adventure for in between – pun intended – the game is definitely worth it.

Deer & Boy is a fine example of the saying that “it's the journey that matters, not the destination.” Although its narrative is highly predictable, LifeLine Games' debut title is nonetheless a captivating experience that skillfully blends the minimalism of Limbo with the emotional depth of Planet of Lana to deliver the kind of adventure we love. Simple, certainly, but moving, at times clever in its approach, and above all, really intense.

Deer & Boy is a beautifully crafted cinematic experience about two unlikely friends who find each other in their greatest time of need.
A beautifully crafted cinematic adventure whose heartfelt storytelling, gorgeous presentation and lovable central duo overcome a handful of familiar genre conventions and an uneven final act.
If you're not welling up by the end, I don't know what to tell you.
I breezed through Deer & Boy, wondering when it was going to grip me, but it never did. As someone who adores the genre, my final feeling was one of confusion. Deer & Boy felt like a game I was going to fall in love with. It was inevitable. But I ended up merely charmed.
A charming and touching platformer that may seem formulaic and basic from the outside, but in fact turns out to be quite original and memorable.
