Ex-Humble Games heads Alan Patmore and Mark Nash have bought back the indie publishing label after its implosion back in 2024, and they've rebranded both it and their company Good Games Group to Balor Games in the process.
As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, Good Games Group has acquired all of the Humble Games back catalog, which includes the likes of beloved 3D platformer A Hat in Time, card-battling roguelike Slay the Spire, and cozy sim Forager, among many others.
Both Good Games Group and Humble Games will be rebranding to Balor Games, which, according to the publisher, is inspired by a Celtic creature with three eyes. It's meant to be an allusion to becoming what GI.biz calls "a top triple-I publisher", so it's all in aid of a pun. Hem hem.
As well as buying up the rights to Humble Games' back catalog, Balor Games has also acquired the publishing rights to existing games like Fights in Tight Spaces and new projects like SCP: 5K.
All of this comes after Humble Games essentially imploded back in 2024, with parent company Ziff Davis restructuring the company and laying off more than 30 of its employees.
