Crimson Desert Lead Thought It Was Fun That "People Didn't Really Know What The Game Was"

Crimson Desert is now just two weeks away and we're finally getting an understanding of what the game is. While developer Pearl Abyss has insisted that it's an open-world action-adventure game, and not an RPG, I wouldn't hold it against you if you're still a bit puzzled. The Dragon-riding, flying mech, Spider-Man style swinging, suplexing enemies, and a gliding system shown in the marketing are a lot to parse through.

The devs kept revealing new mechanics with every new piece of gameplay footage, and fans couldn't help but wonder what the game was. While no developer wants fans to be confused about their game, Pearl Abyss director of marketing and PR, Will Powers, found it pretty amusing.

In an interview with IGN, Powers revealed that revealing the game almost seven years ago was a mistake, because a lot changed since then. While it wasn't always meant to be a prequel to Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert evolved into something new during its development, and that's why it feels like "an amalgamation of what it is morphed into, benefiting from where it came from."
