Yesterday was a bonkers day for video game releases. The long-awaited, slightly troubled Marathon finally hit shelves, Pokemon Pokopia, the highest rated Pokemon game ever released on Nintendo Switch 2, Slay the Spire 2, the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time, released into early access, and indie title Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf joined the fray.
Unfortunately, something had to give, and it looks like Planet of Lana 2 was the biggest casualty of the day, failing to attract more than 250 concurrent players on Steam and being trumped by its predecessor, the original Planet of Lana.
Four pretty big, newly released video games were fighting for our attention yesterday, presuming you've finished Resident Evil Requiem, so it was always going to be a tricky time for one of them.
On PC, Slay the Spire 2 had a phenomenal start to life, peaking at 282,314 players on Steam, and even managing to throw a sly dig at Marathon in the process, which actually didn't perform too badly itself.
