Three days ago, we reported on Slay the Spire 2's roast-inducing social media post. The tweet starts nicely enough, congratulating Bungie for Marathon's launch. But the things take a turn. "Don't let small indie passion projects like this pass you by just because Slay the Spire 2 is out," the remainder of the message reads. In light of the two games' relative Steam CCU performance, the cheek reads a bit... cruel.
Marathon, after all, has not surpassed its first-day peak despite many big games' general tendencies to climb higher on their first weekends. At launch, it achieved 88,337 concurrent users. At present, it's a little over 76k. Slay the Spire 2, on the other hand, is a massive success on this score. Nearly 300k players are currently tearing through the indie strategy game, but just six hours ago, it hit its zenith with a whopping 574,638. Given the difference here... yeah, that tweet's fire.
