Fortnite's PvE-focused Save the World mode is returning, and this time around, it'll be completely free to play, so you won't have to pay a penny to check out where this madness all began.
As revealed via the official Fortnite Save the World website, the mode, which was the original way Fortnite debuted all the way back in 2017, will be going free-to-play on April 16th. You'll be able to play it across most platforms on which Fortnite is currently available, with the exception of mobile devices and the original Switch.
This isn't the first time Save the World has been slated to go free-to-play; back in October 2018, Epic revealed that its full release of Save the World would be a free-to-play launch, but the company eventually reneged on that decision and switched the mode to pay-to-play instead.
Epic is also promising rewards for registration milestones on Save the World's official website. It looks like the first will be a sticker, the second will be a spray, and the third will grant players a skin (although only for this specific mode).
