In case you hadn't been keeping count, The Legend of Zelda is celebrating 40 years as a franchise this year, and that puts it in some pretty rarified air as far as video games go. As part of that momentous occasion, fans had been expecting some big announcements from Nintendo, but things weren't looking too exciting until the other day, when they confirmed the upcoming release of a remake of Ocarina of Time.
That game obviously needs no introduction for most, and releasing it with some fresh features and new visuals in 2026 is more than likely going to serve as a license to print money. The reveal at the Nintendo Direct was an exciting moment no doubt, but it was lacking in one key element, and fans are divided on whether the developer took the right approach in this first instance.
