Xbox Fans Torn On Publisher's Aggressive New Release Strategy

Xbox is currently undergoing a period of significant change, with the new CEO Asha Sharma making some drastic pivots in an attempt to restore faith with the gaming community. While some of these shifts are as simple as a retro-inspired logo change, others could have a much bigger impact on the way that games are made under Microsoft's umbrella.

It's hard to argue against the value of flipping the script right now, as Xbox has been struggling to maintain a place of true competition against PlayStation in the last generation. Sharma's latest initiative is certainly winning over some fans, but there's still a place for skepticism about putting it into practice.

According to a report from The Information, Sharma is currently pushing studios under Xbox to make games like Halo, The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout in a more expedited manner. These franchises all operate at a slow pace in the modern era, with nearly 15 years passing since the release of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and little word yet on the status of The Elder Scrolls 6.
