Claude Guillemot, who founded Ubisoft with his four brothers in 1986, has reportedly been killed in a plane crash. He was 69 years old.
Ouest-France reports that on June 19, a twin-engine Cessna 421 propeller aircraft departing Rennes, France crashed into a field on approach to La Baule aerodrome, killing two passengers. According to the Loire-Atlantique fire department, Guillemot, was one of the victims. The publication also understands Guillemot was the owner of the plane, and a member of the La Baule flying club. He was expected this weekend in La Baule for a gathering of over 100 aircraft.
Guillemot's family were informed of the tragic news yesterday evening, several hours after the plane crashed. The other victim is reported to be a flight instructor from Rennes.
In 1986, Claude started Ubisoft alongside his brothers Christian, Gérard, Michel, and Yves Guillemot.
