The Steam Machine initially had a lot of gamers wishlisting it for its portability and exciting PC-console vibe, but things have changed drastically since reports started suggesting it might carry a higher price tag than what was originally intended. And now that Valve has finally announced the official price, the community is more divided than ever.

The Steam Machine will start at a price of $1,049 for the 512 GB model, and it doesn’t include a controller. If you want more storage, there’s a 2 TB model priced at $1,349. For the controller, you can get the bundle—$1,128 for the 512 GB variant and $1,428 for the 2 TB variant—that will let you save a little.

When a gaming device launches, the hype usually revolves around both its specs and price. For the Steam Machine, however, gamers were always far more concerned about the latter.
