One Year Later, Mario Kart World Finally Gets New Tracks, Promises More

After more than a year, new tracks have been added to Mario Kart World, and more are on the way. The open-world racing game launched alongside the Nintendo Switch last June, and while review scores were positive, its long-term online racing has been a disappointment to competitive players after Mario Kart 8's long reign. With connector tracks souring the VS Race experience, Knockout Tour has emerged as World's most popular mode, and it's just been expanded.

Mario Kart World update 1.7.0 arrived today, July 1, and brings two new Knockout Tour routes to the game. Drill Rally goes from Wario Shipyard to Bowser' Castle, while Boomerang Rally begins at Salty Salty Speedway and ends at Whistlestop Summit. Both new routes are available now, provided you've completed one Knockout Tour race, and Nintendo has promised that "Additional Knockout Tour routes are also planned for future updates."
