Gamers Mourn Resident Evil After 30 Years On PlayStation

Resident Evil has been a survival horror staple for PlayStation for the last three decades, with the original Resident Evil celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. This tenure has been a roller coaster ride, with some games being far more beloved than others for many reasons, yet it’s arguably been on the hottest streak it’s ever experienced due to the consecutive releases of Resident Evil 7: biohazard, RE2, RE3 (the one bad egg in a batch, admittedly), Village, RE4, and Requiem.

Ever since the release of Resident Evil Requiem, remake rumors have run rampant about what game in the franchise would be tackled next. Resident Evil Veronica was then announced at Summer Game Fest 2026 after Resident Evil Code: Veronica Easter eggs were discovered in Resident Evil Requiem, but it’s been difficult for fans to think about this upcoming remake with as much excitement as they’d like following a concerning revelation.
