Nintendo Enthusiast's Reviews

Nov 6, 2018

The gameplay is deep, the characters are great, and the content is diverse.

My Hero One’s Justice won’t recruit new people to the franchise, but in terms of anime adaptations, this game is faithful to the source material, and that’s all a fan can really ask for.

6.5 / 10.0 - Pizza Titan Ultra
Nov 4, 2018

Pizza Titan Ultra is solid at best, frustrating at worst, and is overall just a bit above average. That's a shame because I had higher hopes for this title, but ultimately, I am not walking away too disappointed. If you find this title as intriguing as I did, it may still be worth a shot–just keep in mind that Pizza Titan Ultra is thin crust through and through.

I may have put more time into my characters on the Xbox One version, but I really think the Switch will be my platform of choice going forward. Being able to play it on the go just feels so good. Diablo III: Eternal Collection comes very highly recommended.

5 / 10.0 - The Low Road

The Low Road seems like it would have been a better short animated film than a video game.

8.5 / 10.0 - Transistor

Supergiant has made it clear that stories are important to them. Players seeking a game with strategic combat and simply a great, unique story need not look any further than Transistor.

If you fancy challenging your mind for a few hours with something that isn't too frenetic, then you might want to give this a go.

A decent game, but nothing groundbreaking, SkyScrappers is not among the eShop's best local multiplayer games.

There's so much potential with Warriors Orochi 4; unfortunately, the latest installment misses the mark on so many of the shots that it takes.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is a fun treat for the Halloween season. If you're looking for puzzles, gore, and cute animation, this is a great game for you.

8 / 10.0 - Windjammers
Oct 22, 2018

The aesthetics in Windjammers make it look and feels like an arcade game old enough to run for Congress, because it is almost exactly that. (It's 24 years old, so ineligible for this year's midterms, but Windjammers 2020 is perfectly viable.) However, this game has my vote because it is just really, really fun. As one of the better head-to-head titles on Switch, it is perfect for some quick rounds when you and a friend have a few minutes to spare. It's also deep enough for longer, more intense sessions. Windjammers is a surprisingly simple yet deliciously fun game, and if it's multiplayer you're looking for, this title belongs in your collection.

6 / 10.0 - Pilot Sports
Oct 22, 2018

Pilot Sports just comes off as a poor man's attempt at trying to recreate Pilotwings. It simply does not have the same level of polish.

You would need to be a really hardcore SpongeBob SquarePants, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan to prefer this. I don't doubt that there is a really good game that could be made with the Nickelodeon license, but it needs to have much better core mechanics. And with such a great library of Nickelodeon properties available, you can't help but feel it should be using more of them.

The story has enough to keep you engaged and the inclusion of Star Fox is inspired. I don't think this is the game that will reboot the toys-to-life genre, but I believe that it has enough to live on as a standard IP. I, for one, would be delighted to play through more adventures in the Starlink universe.

7 / 10.0 - Joggernauts
Oct 19, 2018

The game isn't for everyone but definitely has its audience. If you're looking for a fast-paced auto-running platformer to play with friends, Joggernauts is probably up your alley. Just don't go in expecting more than a fun, little title to keep yourself entertained with for just a little while.

As orders and chaos start to pile up, even Overcooked pros will have their hands and heads full. Surf 'n' Turf expands the original game with a wonderfully challenging few hours of content. A worthy follow-up to a great game–get it. You won't be disappointed.

7 / 10.0 - Crayola Scoot
Oct 15, 2018

Unfortunately, Crayola Scoot is not one of these top-tier titles, due to poor presentation and the matter that everything it does has been done better before. Crayola Scoot is not without its merits, though. An interesting approach to scalable difficulty and polished gameplay mean that, although it is no replacement for Splatoon 2 or the classic Tony Hawk games, it's a fun title worth your time.

Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2 is a worthwhile experience. It's the perfect game to plop down on the couch and run through in a weekend. Heck, you could probably even do it in a single sitting. There are plenty of weapons and enemy variety. But, be warned, the button layout isn't that inviting–and not remappable, either. Still, the game hits right in that sweet spot that an action platformer should hit. There's enough action to carry you through the game, with challenges and light exploration. It's a fun platformer with moments of ultraviolence and comedy. Sometimes the jokes miss their mark, but for the most part, it's the perfect helping of delicious goodness.
