GameSpew's Reviews
It's beautifully modelled, filled with colour, has incredible sound design, the sense of flight is exhilarating, and from time to time a challenging battle presents itself that gets your heart pumping
Every moment in Undertale is made special by the superb artistry that has been put into the music; it's far from a second thought and it shows
The lack of space battles in itself is another blow, which is not to say I don't love dogfighting through a canyon on Tattooine, but there was something about flinging a hapless boarding party against a Star Destroyer in some remote corner of the Galaxy that re-created the heroic adrenaline rush of the original A New Hope trench-run
It may feel familiar, but it's a warm and welcoming kind of familiar
The Primal Carnage series may have had legs for a few years on the PC, where it's secured a small but loyal fan base, but on the PS4, I don't think it will be too long until becomes extinct
The controls feel beautifully responsive as a you weave in and out of laser beams within inches of your life
With its quirky 2D graphics and absorbing physics-based gameplay, you'll spend hours and hours making your way through its 100 levels, eager to get all the cups, just because you know you can
What saves Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends from being a total catastrophe is the local multiplayer versus mode. When playing against fellow humans – all dealing with the same woeful combat, awkward controls and confusing power-ups – the game can possibly be considered as enjoyable
Whilst many gamers will scoff at Rainbow Six Siege's multiplayer focused offerings – put forth at the same price as more feature rich packages such as Halo 5 – the fact is, its great fun to play
Although light in content and devoid of any real scares, Among the Sleep is a curious little game with a great deal of charm
It all chugs along quite nicely for a few levels: hack away at groups of zombies, find a few collectible coins and generally bash and smash your way through to the end of the stage. Unfortunately, it all becomes monotonous and infuriating very quickly
The choices you make are largely ineffectual to how things actually turn out, but there are a few along the way that will really shock you or make you think
Rogue Factor have utterly nailed it when it comes to getting invested in your warband
I'd just wait for Deus Ex to go on sale on Steam and get that instead; it's ROOT but prettier
Aesthetically Switch Galaxy Ultra is quite pretty for a 3D game on this sort of budget… it's a fairly trippy sight when you see the track before you curving away into space and up to a orbital dockyard miles and miles away
Getting into a fight in Hard West feels more like a subtle, silent standoff, waiting for your enemy to slip up… it definitely nails a kind of silent, nail biting tension that I think is definitely missing in most games
Knight Squad can become nail-bitingly tense at times, but it doesn't dampen the fun
There is nothing amazingly special about Dirty Bomb, but Splash Damage have finally nailed the formula
You'll have to complete each level four times if you want to take on the final boss in the hub world, which the cynic in me sees as a rather tiresome way of artificially increasing the game's length
I can safely say that Legacy of the Void definitely delivers in terms of its story and is a fitting end to almost two decades of storytelling
