6.2 / 10.0 - Hard Reset Redux

If I were to describe this Hard Reset Redux in two words, it would be “aggressively mediocre.

It's a good remaster in that it makes Destroy All Humans! look significantly better than the original from the PS2 era. However, the gameplay doesn't hold up to 2020 standards.

6.5 / 10.0 - Yooka Laylee
Apr 4, 2017

Despite its commendable protagonist and world design (mostly), the reliance on nostalgia hinders its ability to present fresh ideas, and when that issue is paired with the performance issues, you’re better off just dusting off an old N64 somewhere or waiting for it to be deeply discounted.

6.7 / 10.0 - Far Cry: New Dawn
Feb 14, 2019

"When it comes down to it, Far Cry New Dawn is a familiar yet fun experience that introduces some much-needed tweaks to Ubisoft’s stale formula. The problem, however, is that it’s too familiar and not doing enough to really warrant a playthrough..."

It’s like a Diet Smash Bros, with the character unlock model leaving a bad taste in your mouth.

6.9 / 10.0 - Lego Worlds
Mar 16, 2017

Its colorful landscapes built entirely of LEGOs and massive library of LEGO items you can use to create your own worlds are too bountiful to ignore. However, when you’re seeing a miserable 14 FPS and you’re unable to play smoothly, it’s a jarring experience that makes you never want to play with LEGOs again.

6.9 / 10.0 - Excubitor

Excubitor has a lot of enjoyable moments, though the tower defense elements lack and the controls take a little time to get used to.

Skylar & Plux succeeds in what it had set out to achieve: an homage to the classic N64 platformers like Mario, Ratchet and Clank, and Banjo-Kazooie. There are as many flaws in this game as those classics.

7.5 / 10.0 - Tokyo Xanadu
Jul 1, 2017

Tokyo Xanadu is an enjoyable Vita title with fun combat, mostly enjoyable characters, and an overall solid gameplay. It does lack in storytelling elements and falls on generic tropes, but it is worth picking up if you love anime based games, JRPGs, social systems in games, or Falcom games.

All in all, Symphony of the Machine is a solid VR title with fun puzzles set in an interesting world… I just don’t see it satisfying non-puzzle fans, nor do I think it’s the best VR puzzle game currently available.

Prey is not a perfect game, but the excellent world building, characters, and stories kept me invested enough to see the credits role.

8.1 / 10.0 - Portal Knights
May 18, 2017

If you love to gather up resources, craft things, gather more resources, and craft better things, Portal Knights is definitely for you. It’s a good mix of Minecraftian adventure and RPG. It’s delightfully whimsical, and the vibes it puts out are simply charming.

8.3 / 10.0 - Has Been Heroes
Mar 27, 2017

I'm not sure if the game would work as well for such an extended period of time if I were tethered to an Xbox One or my PC to play, but the Nintendo Switch appears to provide for the best gameplay experience.

If you are a major fan of the Zero Escape series, this game is definitely recommended for the added voice acting alone, or just to play it all over again. However, if you already beat the games and are not looking forward to suffering through those puzzles again, it might be best to pass, as there is not much new content added.
