Planet PlayStation's Reviews

Overall I feel this is a genre that I thought would never be brought back, but I so glad it did. This game will provide endless hours of entertainment as you challenge yourself to the different fields with obstacles like razor blades on the 40 yard line to holes in the field filled with fire. There seems to be something new to every stadium, every team and every mode. It is definitely something that any fan of the NFL Blitz games should pick up and is super friendly to any newcomer to the genre. It is definitely one that I will keep playing for quite some time to come both online and off.

While this game is a fun time killer, I don’t see a push that would drive the need for this game. Sure it would be a great party game with your friends or the occasional online match from time to time, the overall amount of content here is minimal. There aren’t nearly enough character and the amount of lines to choose from for roasts gets repetitive and gives you the been here, done that feeling. If you are wanting to pick it up for the party game that it is then it’s definitely worth the price of admission, just if you are thinking this will provide you with countless hours of laughs at a single sitting then you might be disappointed.

9.5 / 10.0 - Thimbleweed Park
Nov 12, 2018

Thimbleweed Park is a point and click adventure game set in 1987 and follows two big city government agents Ray and Reyes on the quest to solve a small town murder. Or is that what the game wants you to think. You will find yourself trying to guess the next outcome and who could possibly be the killer. The best part is trying to figure out the motive behind it. The game takes twists and turns to an extreme with one of the biggest plot twists I've experienced in a game of this caliber in quite some time. With throwbacks to games of old and some self-deprecating humor in regards to game developers, Thimbleweed Park has it all.

9.7 / 10.0 - My Memory of Us
Nov 20, 2018

This is a game that will stand the test of time and be one of the games that can be used as an educational opening with your child or allow a person to learn our history through another medium. Even though I had the opportunity to skip the cut scenes, I found myself definitely intrigued and engrossed in the story beautifully spoken by Sir Patrick Stewart. He absolutely was the best fit for the narrator role in this game. His voice definitely gave you the feel that you were in deed taking a trip back through the Memories of Us.

8.9 / 10.0 - The Mooseman
Nov 21, 2018

If you are a lover of the arts and really enjoy the different mythologies from around the world then you definitely owe it to yourself to experience The Mooseman. One of the draws this game had with me was the artistic approach and covering a subject matter I knew little about going in. While not a truly heavy "gameplay" component is in the game, it makes up for with the story telling through lore and collectibles. The art style is also something to behold as it truly feels that you are experiencing the telling of Russian Perm tribes.

5.8 / 10.0 - Raining Coins
Nov 23, 2018

While this game is definitely not one I could recommend to any of my friends to play it is one that I would possibly point to for a gamer with young children. While it might be hard for some of the younger audience to play it does seem to be a game that could increase the youngsters hand/eye coordination. Other than that, you’d be better off picking this up on the free model for mobile and using it to pass your time while in a waiting room.

The fact that this game is very easy to pick up and get lost in is definitely one reason that you should give it a go. I found that I loved this game so much that I purchased and played this game across 3 separate regions on the PlayStation Network. It just was more and more beautiful each and every time I played it. This will be one that I will go back for more at a later time. The world and its accompanying music are just what you need to experience at least once in your life. It is that moving.

9.5 / 10.0 - It's Spring Again
Nov 23, 2018

The game is absolutely perfect for its intended audience. From the looks of the puppet show they modeled and expanded this after it nails every aspect with great detail. This is a definite must have for any gamer out there with young children and the platform to play it on. It is a way to get the child engaged with learning that a normal preschool just cannot do. This interactive way of learning is definitely a way of the future and I hope we start to see more titles like it, being the parent of a 20 month old.

6.8 / 10.0 - Energy Invasion
Nov 24, 2018

This game is a simplistic and challenging take on a classic arcade game. Due to the achievements in this game taking 3-4 hours maximum, I Imagine most buying this game will buy it for the achievements which in itself is a selling point. The game is fun but sadly does not have much, if any replay-ability outside of the endless mode which will only keep you occupied for so long. I do recommend buying it if you are a fan of classic arcade games or games they inspired.

With so much being lost in today's gaming landscape from years ago, this is definitely a title you will want to experience. It takes everything we loved about gaming from the 90s and improves on each and every item but still sticking to its true core of a platformer. This game has something to enjoy for any lover of the platforming genre. From a very unique protagonist to and even more unique antagonist this game is definitely one you will want to add to your library.

8.3 / 10.0 - Puzzle Showdown 4K
Nov 24, 2018

This is a title that I really wasn't fond of initially but one that grew on me over the course of playing it. I really enjoy putting puzzles together and just didn't know how that would translate over to a video game. Though it doesn't give you the exact same feeling of accomplishment it definitely makes up for the fact you don't have to clutter up your house just to find room. This will definitely be a game for any puzzle lovers out there that like me, simply do not have the room nor the ability to put a puzzle together the traditional way.

Overall the game is good, it is a small game marketed towards children and it does this well. I would suggest this game to parents of younger children who should expect it to keep the child occupied for at the very least a few hours. The price is good, but playtime is limited due to the small number of levels with no level creation.

8 / 10.0 - Dark Eclipse
Dec 2, 2018

Dark Eclipse is a fairly barebones title. There’s no story, and it’s not much to look at. However, the gameplay, view and control style give it a board game feel that I’m a bit hooked on. Even if you’re not competitive enough for ranked mode, or, like me, just generally don’t like MOBAs, this is a game that you can hop on with a friend and have a good time. The microtransactions are fairly standard, especially in this type or game, but they don’t seem overpriced. If you enjoy the game enough, buying characters could be beneficial to you. If not, the free rotation Leaders are always there, and the game is free, so anyone with PlayStation VR can play. If you’re a fan of MOBAs, RTS, or just want to scratch that board game itch with a friend, Dark Eclipse is a fun, addictive, just one more go kind of game.

Tour de France 2018 is the latest installment in the cycling game series. While it is an excellent example of sports simulator, it seems to have forgotten that it is also a video game.

8.7 / 10.0 - I Am The Hero
Dec 8, 2018

I am hero is a must play game that you can pick up and play on your own or with family and friends especially if your into the beat em up games that you grew up with. If you have yet to play one this is a good game to be your first. Reminds me of the older style 2D games and those were a blast.

9.4 / 10.0 - The First Tree
Dec 10, 2018

While this game is a treat to play. It is even more of a therapeutic experience for the player. During the time playing this, I personally lost someone and laid them to rest which brought the story home tenfold. The game's usage of visual metaphors from the narration to the game going full circle and placing the player as the narrator at the end of the game. It was a clever end to a deeply personal story. One that I will not soon forget. This is one of those games that you can play today and write the review 10 years later and still have the details so vividly in your mind. I can tell you right now that David Wehle is going to go places. It's not a question of if, but when. Do yourself a favor that you will not likely forget, click the link below and experience this masterpiece for yourself.

8.7 / 10.0 - Hello Neighbor
Dec 10, 2018

The use of advanced AI is what really makes this game stand out to me. In most cases, it seems this game would have been created and the AI would have been rather dumb. Making beating the levels all that much easier and causing the game to have little to zero replay ability and allow the person to beat the game in a short amount of time. That to me is the defining characteristic of this game. If you enjoy challenging yourself, and with the AI it quite literally could end up you actually challenging yourself, then this game is for you. There isn't the shooting or the great deep narrative just you and the neighbor trying to outwit one another. This game will definitely be one that I continue to play and to replay once beaten to see how fast I can get at each level and how long it takes before the AI really catches on to me.

8.8 / 10.0 - Last Day of June
Dec 10, 2018

The developers really took the time and care with this little game. It's not that long of a game but definitely had some effort behind the few hours it takes to complete. They tell a story of an undying love and devotion of a husband mourning the loss of his beloved wife. They really portray the lengths one will go to get that one last moment with their special someone. The artwork and lighting in this game is really beautiful and stands out among the other games I've played as something unique. This title was really a refreshing and moving one.

In short, this game is something I think people can really enjoy. It's not a graphical powerhouse but what it lacks in the graphics department it definitely makes up for in the mechanics and gameplay. The overall difficulty to the game does tend to lend itself to the gamers looking for a challenge as it starts out feeling quite on the easier side building up to sometimes the frustratingly hard side of things (but truly in a fun way). Too many games with difficulty like this get a stigma about them. I find that when you beat a level that you've been trying multiple times to get past, one of the most rewarding feelings in gaming. Without this difficulty type, that feeling of accomplishment really isn't possible.
