PlayStation Galaxy's Reviews

Oct 9, 2019

I highly recommend this title for everyone regardless of age and skill level. It is well worth the initial asking price. Sure, the visuals appeal to a younger demographic. But at its core lies some of the tightest platforming that hasn’t been seen since the days of a few console generations ago. That is something the young of heart will really appreciate.

Overall, Rage 2 is a fun game. Surprisingly a bit short for an open world experience as I was able to beat it at below 14 hours. But it is still worth playing if you are a fan of Doom.

8 / 10.0 - Flipping Death
Sep 5, 2018

Zoink’s latest IP sure knows how to convince players that death isn’t something (or someone) to be afraid of. If you still are, however, then you can always just muster your confidence and run around… Flipping Death.

8 / 10.0 - NBA 2K19

What changes or improvements I would probably love to see is a more flexible MyNeighborhood. It needs to start containing something that does not require microtranscations in an already “microtransacked” industry.

8 / 10.0 - Mega Man 11
Oct 11, 2018

All in all, Mega Man 11 is a pretty good game, despite the number of glaring flaws. I urge all of you to try it out for yourselves and grab a copy if you wish to see what the Blue Bomber has new in store.

8 / 10.0 - Battlefield V
Jan 3, 2019

Battlefield V is barebones on launch with some classic modes stretched within four months — which includes the all-new battle royale mode Firestorm. Even so, I still enjoyed my time on Grand Operations, scaring off a tank with a Panzerfaust and an anti-tank grenade, and jumping off from C-47s.

8 / 10.0 - FIFA 19
Oct 16, 2018

To note, I played through gradual levels of difficulty, and none of which had an effect on how well you shoot. The difficulty level only determines how good the opposing team plays. Despite these, playing matches and especially playing with your friends at home are still loads of fun. Games like these make amazing party games and are best played during free moments wherein you’re just looking to relax.

8 / 10.0 - Hitman 2
Nov 23, 2018

When it all boils down to it, Hitman 2 is pretty much just finding new ways to kill the same targets. With only six maps, you’ll often be facing the same targets again and again. Most maps have more than just one target, but I do wish there were a little bit more variety. I still think it’s a great game. With the elusive targets coming up (I’m coming for you Sean Bean) as well as DLCs, there’s a lot to this game to look forward to.

8 / 10.0 - Yakuza Kiwami 2
Sep 25, 2018

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a bit of a mixed bag for me with so many small issues, but tons of great aspects. Hopefully the next remaster will be a better one with improved gameplay, visuals, facial animations, and more. Maybe I was expecting it to be as good as Yakuza 0.

8 / 10.0 - Phantom Doctrine
Sep 19, 2018

I had fun playing the Phantom Doctrine but it’s not a perfect game by any means. While it’s true that this isn’t going to be a game for everyone to enjoy, those who are a fan of turn-based strategy games with emphasis on micromanaging your troops might find it enjoyable. It really brought out the OCD in me. In short, if you’re like me and have an obsession with every detail about how you play a game, then Phantom Doctrine is worth a buy.

8 / 10.0 - Planet Alpha
Sep 5, 2018

All in all, for what the game is supposed to be, it does it really well. Yes, there are some minor inconveniences but that’s all they were, minor. It’s just a shame that it’s one of the shorter ones out there, but it was still a pretty good time—aside from the end, let’s leave it at that. So if you want, give Planet Alpha a go. It’s definitely worth it in terms of how it looks and it can get pretty fun.

Overall, I enjoyed my time with LEGO DC Super Villains. It told a unique and entertaining story that could rival any from the DC cinematic universe. The game may have been filled with villains, but the real enemy was not the Joker, Lex Luthor or even the Justice Syndicate. The real Villain was the game’s bugs.

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 takes all the arcadey elements from the classic fireball that was NBA Jam and added in a couple of improvements that can really get you hooked on the high-flying, gravity-defying, slam dunking action!

11-11 was a fun ride with a unique and beautiful art style, complemented by a well-written story that taught me that it’s really not about the destination, but the characters that you meet along the way.

All in all, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a pretty good game to keep and play again for the challenge. Great gameplay, good visuals, solid voice acting, several options for upping the difficulty, and an intriguing storyline are the reasons I gave it a high score. I do see some parts that need improvement that needs to be implemented in the next title though. Devs, make it happen because I really like this game despite its small flaws.

Even with the absence of character development and upsetting VR mode, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is a great entry to show that even old formulas work with some slight twists to it.

8 / 10.0 - World War Z
Apr 29, 2019

While the glitches and bugs aren’t game-breaking and don’t really affect the entire experience, the only gripe I have with the game is how repetitive the objectives are in its campaign mode. In the end, World War Z is still a great spiritual successor of Left 4 Dead and it packs a lot of fun when you play it with your friends.

Overall, I enjoyed Crash Team Racing. Racing karts can be brutal, but fun. Adventure modes boss battles feel a tad bit unfair though. As each boss seems to have a gimmick that no ordinary kart racer usually has. Take Ripper Roo for example, who’s extremely fast and has unlimited TNT.
